WASHINGTON, Sept 23 (Reuters) - The two top Democrats in the U.S. Congress announced a revenue deal on Thursday that they said would pay for President Joe Biden's social spending agenda, marking a major step forward in their effort to enact sweeping legislation.

"The White House, the House and the Senate have reached agreement on a framework that will pay for any final negotiated agreement. So the revenue side of this, we have an agreement on," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said at a press conference.

Good news so far as it goes. But I presume this does not settle the ongoing fight about what goes into the infrastructure bill.

i expect there's still some public in-fighting the media will be agog about, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, the general public wants what's being offered: better internet connection for rural areas, better roads, safer cyber security, greener solutions, repaired bridges and so on and so on. Representatives/Senators voting against the interests of their constituents are gonna hear about it next year. Some, like Manchin, already are... voters keen for the improvements to their environs are speaking out about the big lobbyists squeezing Manchin's balls to act on their behalf rather than the general public's.

what voters need to be doing is turning out strongly in the mid-terms to avoid problems created when one or two individual representatives can hold their party hostage and so seem to have an inflated sense of self-worth.

It will require every Democrat vote, and the last I heard, which was yesterday, that Manchin and Seneca aren't on board, as are none of the Republicans.

Well, that's the problem. Voter turnout is always lower in midterms than in presidential years, and, therefore, disproportionately represented by the True Believers in their parties, because those are the most motivated voters.

But I was told that the entire domestic agenda was in dire straits and being held hostage by AOC and that Joe Machine was holding the line for Trumpies.

Are you saying that is all bullshit?

He doesn't get how agreements work

At this point, even the Pubs are going to start getting pressure from their constituents to go along with it. Manchin and Sinema already are getting that.

Doesn't really do anything to resolve the conflicts. It's basically just Biden, Schumer, and Pelosi agreeing on how they'll pay for the bill. In short, optics.

Best of luck to them.

Like hell they will, they're the one's who are going to have to pay for this monstrosity.

Most Americans know taxes are worth paying.

Americans used to sacrifice today for their children's futures tomorrow, now under Democrat leadership and their greediness, we steal from that future and turn them and their children into tax slaves with no future. But, that's the point isn't it?

Not really, no. These "tax slaves" will still be earning money and supporting themselves on it several generations down the line.

Not if that debt has to be paid off. Not if the Democrat Party still exists, they are the Cancer that's going to kill America.

No, that would be the plutocracy. They're the cancer. Tax them adequately and we won't have any deficit problem.

And there is no Democrat Party. Please drop that ridiculous usage once and for all.

All we have to do is stop funding the traitorous states and presto....money galore

Stop with the bullshit. You can seize all the wealth of the American "Plutocracy" you will only come up with half of the 8 trillion Biden wants to spend on "change." And keep in mind, you can only do that once.

But leftist fantasy states chewing the hand that feeds to a bloody stump is "progress" :D

.
Well after sixty years of the wealthiest not contributing into the system at a sustainable level, it's going to take a long time to balance the books if they start contributing now.

Of course we still have psychos who think a special 2% tax on those with wealth over $50 MILLION, and a 3% tax on those with wealth over $ 1 BILLION is UNFAIR, even though many billionaire support it.

You can't negotiate with greedy sociopaths.

Something will pass, but it won't make the far left perfectly happy.

Fortunately it will make the far right very unhappy.

You can’t cut the deficit till you cut deficit spending. You can’t pay down the debt till deficit spending reaches zero.
