Feedback for my first story ever! -noncon

Definitely don't be discouraged by scoring, non con stories seem to always be being down voted by the morally superior
Looking forward to the next installment!

Hello! :cattail::heart:

Today I uploaded my first story I have ever written! ...
I'm getting downvoted since I posted here for some reasonㅠㅡㅠ from 4.78 to 4.16 *cries in the corner* please don't downvote just because a kink is not your taste.. I worked on it for months. I'm so heartbroken.

Note that if the first few readers rated it mostly as a 5, then even 4's after that will bring down the average. I save a 5 rating only for those stories well written in my favorite genres, and sci-fi and non-consent not among my favorites. Still, you write far better than I do, and I rated this a 4 in genres I don't like!

As long as you're staying above 4, you're trending well. My last story started at 2 from the Loving Wives haters, and slowly built to a 3.8. So, that's a category to avoid. The haters will read stories, knowing they won't like the genre and rate them as 1.

Very well written! I was expecting a *bit* more action, but it primed me for the next chapter.

I’ve written a few non-con stories and can confirm that voting is, at best, unpredictable. I’m thrilled if a non-con story gets the red H. One can write a beautiful, well structured story with excellent character development and backstory and still someone will say “rape is wrong!”. No kidding. Ignore them and write what you like.

BTW, if you’re going to write a story in chapters get used to readers getting frustrated if you take too long between installments.

This is the problem with voting systems generally. In theory, we all vote up the good stuff and vote down the real stuff. In reality, it rapidly becomes Reddit: warring groups attempting to silence each other by downvoting everything of a certain type.

But maybe by posting here you'll rally some positive responses.

To me, there's three categories of votes:

1 - I liked it
2 - I didn't like it
3 - I didn't care either way

The third is by far the most damning.

The category you post your story makes all the difference as far as reaction goes.

Loving wives is the toughest category. A story gets many views. but the readers are super critical. often that is based as much on content/plot than the way the story is constructed. My latest story was widely panned.

Other categories get high scores, few reads and very few comments. Does that help you be a better writer? I don't think so. Getting a story trounced is disheartening.

Some of my stories are deliberately shallow. They were written to fit the category. I personally do not like to write jerkoff material. I want an element of of eroticism be it incest or bdsm but I want the reader to imagine herself or himself in the position. I fail normally on that regard.

Great beginnings - Nice Scores!

Just checked the forum and saw this thread, today. Hopefully you are over the 'first submission jitters!' Statistically speaking, when your first scores are so high, the law of averages eventually takes over and that bell curve element kicks in - scores will dip as a result.

Yours are doing quite well, as I looked into the four part series, today: 4.46, 4.67, 4.61, and 4.60. Nice ratings! Three out of four RED HOT scores. Those individuals rating your work tell you a story - they like your work!

You are on the upper end of the bell curve rating scale. You have done well! Take heart. Write more.:D
