An enraged host on the right-wing media site Newsmax cut off a military veteran working to get Americans out of Afghanistan when that guest declined to stick with the script, which first and foremost, meant fealty to “President” Donald Trump.
“Are we in a full-on hostage situation, Joe?” Stinchfield asked.
“No, I can’t comment on that, I don’t think it’s a hostage situation,” Saboe said. “I think there’s certainly coordination problems between the State Department and the Taliban as to agreeing on flights leaving, who should be on them and when that should happen.”
Stinchfield continued pushing the narrative that what’s happening in Afghanistan is a “hostage situation,” which Saboe calmly called “a stretch.”
“We followed this closely for multiple administrations,” Saboe noted, calling the Trump Administration’s efforts “fairly weak.”
Stinchfield had heard enough.
“Joe, I’m gonna cut you off, I’m already weak, I’m already low on time, Joe. Cut him off, please,” he said to his producer.
Saboe attempted to continue his point, but his frustrated host wasn’t having it.
“Cut him off now! Cut him off now,” he repeated to his TV crew. “You’re not going to blame this on President Trump on my show! That’s not happening!”
And there you have it - the radical right prevents their viewers from hearing not only the truth, but any other point of view, even from ex-army officers working in Afghanistan and with direct knowledge of the situation.
