Posts Gone Mssing After Maintenance?

Missing posts and PMs

Do we know if the sysops are looking at this? Is there a place to contact them?

You can never edit posts in the Technical Forum. Don't know why.
My speculation would be to avoid someone editing a question/issue after it's already been answered potentially making the answer wrong or confusing to someone reading it later on.

That's a very sensible reason, indeed. I'd wondered about it, but only to the point where I double check spelling before pressing the Submit Reply button.

It's obviously across the entire site, I think they know.

I doubt what went missing will ever get restored. My guess is the site had to roll back to a previous good hold point, and recovered from there. But the last thing they'll need will be thousands of individual queries. You do realise there isn't a giant back room of tech staff at Lit, just a couple of people, maybe?

Your almost certainly right, they tried to fix something and it screwed up things. They spent almost three times the time they planned and then just had to hit the restore point.

Pity they don't just come clean, or maybe I just missed it.

I'm sure this is probably 100% coincidence, but the timing is weird.

There were two people I normally heard from via PM multiple times a day that have just gone dark since the outage. No messages, no new posts.

I know people disappear all the time. But like I said two at once and the day before the downtime was the last I heard from either. Just a weird coincidence.

Anyone else see an increase in unexpected absences?
