Grocery prices are headed higher later this year, according the U.S.’s largest supermarket by sales.

Cincinnati-based Kroger Co., which had $132 billion in sales last year, says inflation is running hotter than management previously anticipated and that expectations are now for prices to rise 2% to 3% over the second half of this year.

Management at Kroger rival Albertsons Companies Inc. earlier this summer expressed similar concerns that inflation would pick up in the second half of the year and that they too would pass some of those increased costs along to consumers.

Half of the basket’s price increase is due to soaring prices for beef, pork and poultry. Beef prices have risen 14% this year while pork prices have jumped 12.1%, and poultry prices are higher by 6.6%.

And this is Biden's doing how?

Inflation caused by his reckless spending of money we don't have, thus driving down the value of the Dollar and prices up to capture loss in value in the sale of goods.

Inflation expectations hit all-time high in N.Y. Fed survey

Americans are expecting a record deluge of inflation over the next year—and they expect high levels of inflation to stick around for years, according to a report released Monday by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

At the same time, expectations for future earnings growth declined, raising the prospect of stagflation.

The Dollar is at a near-historic high against the pound and the euro.

Inflation also drives up wages.

Natural inflation from consumption and demand yes.

Inflation from the government desperately trying to DESTROY and effectively maiming the shit out of the economy is not the same.

It always is. Point is, inflation is usually a sign of a growing economy. A depression is marked by deflation.

Usually it's a natural drive from market forces.

That is currently NOT the case.

Currently we're watching the fallout of (D)'eez taking a baseball bat to the economy.

No matter how much you try to pretend otherwise.

What they're doing is spending money, Keynesian-style, an approach that, historically, usually works beneficial results.

Yes, and the usual caveat applies: the right isn't afraid it won't work, they're afraid it WILL work. If a critical mass of voters ever get it straight as far as what right wing economic policy really delivers, the Republicans are fucked for a generation at least.

You'd think that after four Pub administrations since 1981, they would know what RW economic policy really delivers.

You certainly would. But credit where it's due, "let people keep more of their own money and the economy works better", although severely oversimplified, sounds great. In fact, it sounds great because it is severely oversimplified. Besides, a lot of people believe they're just a couple of lucky breaks away from being super-rich themselves, and they don't plan on paying their taxes either when that day comes.

Wtaf?! You're worried about the price of meat going up? And not about the negative environmental impact and health benefits, not to mention the suffering and torture of billions of sentient beings that the Animal Industrial Complex is directly responsible for? Try eating a climate, health and animal friendly diet, SugarDaddy1.

Try the real paleo diet: You eat nothing you didn't kill with your bare hands!

And you don't get to use them to eat it!

I think it might have been Steinbeck or Eugene O'Neill -- maybe Sinclair Lewis -- who remarked that the problem with the socialist movement in America was that the poor did not think of themselves as poor, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

BB, RG, CC, SC & aren't you tired of licking rich people's ass?

I like you, but your contempt for the minimum-wage working bee (like the exploited Amazon warehouse workers) and your adulation of non-tax payers pisses me off.

Particularly after 2000, when the rich got richer & the poor poorer.

lemme guess. You're referring to the money spent on subsidies for the jobless working class.

Not to the money spent on proxy wars or for subsidies for Trump's non-tax paying buddies.

Is an entirely made up by the left lie you can't even try to support.

You're just 100% full of fuckin' shit right here.

and your adulation of non-tax payers pisses me off.

Another total lie, there is no adulation for the lower 47% on my part.

Particularly after 2000, when the rich got richer & the poor poorer.

The poor are not poorer, they have less equity, not the same.

Why must you lie about absolutely everything??

The minimum wage worker is an entry-level worker.

If they have any value at all, they get it...

It's a shame that the typical college graduate is not inculcated in that reality.

PS - Amazon does not pay "minimum wage."

People compete for those jobs because they pay so well...

If they did not pay well, Amazon would be whining about how no one wants to work anymore.

It disturbs their little fantasy that ANY college degree = economic success.

Biden’s tax on oil, natural gas will cost economy $9.1B, 90,000 lost jobs

President Joe Biden’s proposal to tax the oil and gas industries in the reconciliation bill would be costly to both the economy and in terms of job loss, an*analysis*by the American Petroleum Institute’s Energy Citizens initiative found.

“If implemented, the new tax could cost American jobs, increase costs for U.S. natural gas and oil, and outsource energy production – often to adversarial nations with less stringent environmental records,” the announcement of the analysis said.

The analysis found that the tax proposal would result in $9.1 billion in direct costs to the economy and could mean the loss of 90,000 American jobs.

Got that right it's in my fully functioning heart that's not clogged with saturated fats. I'm also not at risk of high cholesterol which causes heart problems because there is ZERO cholesterol in a plant based diet. All cholesterol comes from meat and meat by products. High cholesterol is one of the leading risk factors for heart disease. So yeah, my fully functioning left ventricle is only one of many reasons for my feelings of compassion and why an earth friendly diet tastes of compassion. And good health. And saving rain forests and lowering green house emissions. You should try being part of the solution and not the precipitate. :):rose:

You're wrong about this you know. I hope you're not relying on this mindset for confirmation that you are healthy. Elevated Cholesterol levels and heart disease can be caused by a variety of things.
