But variants like Delta made that unlikely and the vaccine hesitancy particularly in the US, made the 70% figure barely possible.

Now there are variants? Herd immunity is probably impossible even with 100% vaccination.

And don’t even try to spin this by saying “the science is evolving!” He’s the head of NIH and has been for a long damn time. Covid is not his first rodeo.
