Virginia S.C rules lee's statue can, indeed, be torn down

The statues were fine when they were originally put up to memorialize local history.

But, like so many other things, the degeneration of the GQP led to a changing meaning and reality. Had it not been for the Giant Orange Toddler and his minions, this conversation would never have happened.

They were never put up to memorialize local history. They were put up in defiance to the result of a war they lost.

People don't celebrate losers. They celebrate ideas. The people represented the fight.

That's why that stupid flag is known as the rebel flag...."we lost but we're still here fighting..."

What are they fighting for?

The Left in America is 100% pro equality. Inequity is going to happen not just between races but within them as well. We absolutely do not consider equality to be racist. We consider the fact that the Constitution was amended because prohibition was disrupting white peoples lives and nobody said "Well just don't drink" for very long after the men got back from WW1. By contrast ANY president could just write and EO and say "Look we are not prioritizing drugs" but because it primarily affects people of color it hasn't happened. "Nobody MADE you do drugs." Nobody makes you drink either.

We are upset that crack (an opioid) ravaged the black community for decades and nobody cared. Back under Obama opioids became a problem for middle class white people and it was declared a national emergency. We're not mad they are getting help. We're bad we didn't. We could go up and down the list but it happens time and time and time again.

This about more than outcomes, its about getting a remotely fair shake. When it has been shown time and time again that a white man in court is less likely to be convicted, and if convicted will get a shorter sentence. That's inequity.

One of the problems with you is you think if a thing isn't a law it doesn't/didn't happen consistently. There is nothing on the laws that says a woman must give it up to get certain jobs BUT as the Me2 movement showed it was happening A LOT. And worse we weren't surprised. Why does a woman who went to school for journalism need to give a BJ? And given how few media outlets there are "If you don't I'll call the other five and make sure you'll never be hired" is a real threat. People like you would answer "Well start your own network!" as if that was realistic for 90% of America. You can get some traction online but that's a VERY recent thing in the grand scheme of things. That's not equality leading to inequality. That's inequality doubling down because its an option they have open to them.

Why were we looking for Obama's BC? The citizenship of his mother was never questioned so it wouldn't matter where he was born. I never got to see Trumps BC. Since it specifically states in the Constitution NATURAL BORN wouldn't he be disqualified if his mother had a C-Section? That would be silly to try an enforce but if we look for one we should look for ALL.

One last one for shits and giggles. If BLM holds a rally that gets a little rowdy (most reports show at most it was 10% and probably less) its "They are rioting and destroying their own shit." Which given what we know about wealth inequality is relatively unlikely. However if your team wins a Super Bowl or Nationals and people start flipping cars and burning shit, which happens so often the media hardly covers it, its just boys will be boys.

So a symbol must be magic? The Statue of Liberty is just a statue, not a beacon of freedom and prosperty. On the other hand if I found the Morphers THOSE would be symbols because if I shout "Its morphin time!" I get spandex and the ability to summon zords? Is that about right.

2 things here:

1. Your outrage is based on a lie. Yes some minority groups had an opioid problem that no one cared about before it spread to the general population. They currently have other problems no one cares about either. You know why?

Because it isn't anyone's job to protect you from yourself. If those minorities in BLUE STATES AND CITIES woke the fuck up and stopped being stupid when it comes to drugs and crime, you wouldn't HAVE an opiod crisis you say no one cares about.

It ALL starts with the individual and spreads outward from there. Blaming whitey for the problem is an attempt to avoid responsibility for your own actions. Currently it's fashionable to do that for just about everything. And the result is visible in BLUE STATES AND CITIES where trillions of dollars of damage has been caused by agitators who are MANIPULATING the people in those blue states and cities to destroy their own lives even more.

Tell me, show me, where any of the things the people are protesting against has helped ANYONE not commit suicide, end the opioid/illegal drug crisis, solve hunger, get homeless people off the streets, stop global warming, save the whales, or ANY of the other causes we've known about for most of my life.

It hasn't. And you know why? Because PEOPLE ARE FUCKING STUPID. They're even more stupid when it comes to taking responsibility for their own actions because they tend to blame others for what they did to themselves.

2. The Statue of Liberty is art. It was a gift from France to the US and the US people ran a donation campaign to fund the construction of the pedestal it sits on.

The statue itself isn't necessary for the concept of liberty to exist. If someone tears it down, the concept will still be there. People from all over the world will still know that freedom is possible (to whatever extent it is ever possible) here in the US.

So how it is, that even without the Statue of Liberty people would still believe if it is the statue (you say) which is a symbol of freedom? Doesn't destroying the symbol destroy the concept? If not, then why tear down those confederate statues?

The answer is because the art doesn't embody the symbol, people project their beliefs onto the art. Currently people are blaming statues for human behaviors from the distant past as if that will somehow change the past and make the future "different." (Please don't say "better" because that's a lie. NO ONE knows if the future will be "better.")

Again, people aren't blaming a statue. People are not wanting to be represented by what that statue was built for. As lengthy as your bullshit is, it fails to acknowledge the basic truths about why symbols are created.

Keep spewing it and keep being wrong. Until you can find someone who answers the question -"what does this statue represent?" With "nothing" in the majority, your argument is completely without merit.

Not to mention that you also argue that people are completely isolated in their belief systems....human nature just isn't that way

This is an interesting concept.

You say the statues were erected after the civil war to memorialize history. History of a war which actually wasn't even about slavery, as most people tend to think.

Yet you also say Trump is somehow responsible for the war, slavery, history, and the statues. And somehow Trump is also responsible for the bigotry and racism which have existed since the statues were created.

Interesting concept you've created. Create a strawman. Then blame a guy who wasn't there for everything that happened because of the strawman.

Symbols.

Does the cross symbolize Christianity?

If so, how does that adhere to the second commandment?

RIGHT THE FUCK ON!

Meme destruction at its finest.

No. I'm saying nobody cared about the monuments until Don L'Orange emboldened the hateful to rally in favor of them and attempt to overthrow the U.S. Government.

The government isn't here to protect you ends exactly when white people are in trouble. You don't even make a quality defense that it isn't.

I already kicked your teeth down your throat on the second point you attempt to make. The morphers would a symbol, Lady Liberty is just art. We can drop this while you wait for your proctologist and dentist to get you back in working shape.

The government doesn't protect whitey either. If it did, we wouldn't have homeless vets by the tens of thousands living on the street. We wouldn't have an immigration crisis either. And we CERTAINLY wouldn't have cities currently in ashes and disarray from the destruction caused by "peaceful" minority protests. And we DEFINITELY wouldn't have unaffordable health care insurance.

Your entire argument is bullshit because it's based on blaming someone else for what YOU did to yourself.

Threatening me will get you nowhere except banned. Not that that means anything because the effect of being banned here is about as effective as whacking a kitten with a feather.

There is no "erasing of history" in tearing down a Confederate monument. High schools will continue to teach about the Civil War -- and about the Black Codes, Jim Crow and the Civil Rights movement.

OTOH, there is no point other than emotional satisfaction. Tearing down a monument will not provide any African-Americans with good jobs or educations or do anything to lift anybody out of poverty.

If it is not erasing history what is it?
The reasoning to remove it is erasing history.

If it is not and it is simply a monument to slavery Let us remove:
The name of the state of Virginia. It is the Capital of the Confederacy.
The name of the city of Richmond. It is the Capital of the Confederacy.
The Capitol Building. The corner stone laid by George Washington himself.
The WhiteHouse.
The George Washington Monument.
Remove the Name of Washington from the District of Columbia.
Hmmm removed redskins - remove Columbia while you are at it.
The Lincoln Memorial.
The Jefferson Memorial.
Probably should tear down the retirement homes of Jefferson and Washington. Both of those are shrines to slavery.

This is not China. And I hope you all are not a bunch of bigots imposing your will.

Yes it very much does protect "whitey" your term, not mine. You don't give a shit about vets and know they are lopsidedly people of color. You hate us more than you love yours. Its been that we way since the founding. We don't have an immigration crisis. That's racist BS argument actually the rest of this is just you admiting there is the exact problem I say there is.

No. I did not redline myself. No I did not keep my parents out of white schools. This concept that you are responsible for everything that happens to you is a privelege.

We don't ban here save for the most insane. Its okay kitten. You lost to a fighter whose greater than you.

Restating my question back at me is not an answer to the question, It's an evasion. A rather obvious one at that. Plus it shows that you can't form an answer because that answer destroys your debate position.

Step by step:

IF the cross is a symbol of Christianity, then it violates the 2nd Commandment. If it isn't, then it's not a "symbol" of anything and it's the viewer/wearer who embues the ideology into it and destroying the item changes nothing about the belief.

The same logic applies to the statues.

What you are claiming the statue represents is the bullshit. And just more of you bullshit.

Once again whiteface french flag wearing turncoat you are completely wrong again.

Robert E. Lee was not only a general. He was sympathetic to blacks and held slavery as an evil institution.

The statue represents the General. An amazing and tactical Military Engineer. A great Natural American Leader. While his greatest work may have been against the Union, he is and will always be an American. One who by the time of the civil war was forced back into service as the very taxes fired upon at Fort Sumter were eliminating his families good fortunes fought for valiantly and successfully by previous generations. Brought back because of his ability. Texas is not Mexico.

Instead of destroying history we should learn from it as to not repeat it. Your democrats are the ones who fought to keep slavery alive and just happened to be on Robert E. Lee's command. Learn from it. Your democrats relinquished a massive air base in Iraq and perpetuated a civil war. Now, more no learning, have relinquished Bagram the last major airbase between the free world and Russia and China. Did not learn from it.

You have to understand that you're arguing with someone who probably went to public school, and still barely passed.

The people who argue against the statues don't know US history. They don't know art, or human nature, or anything at all.

What they know, is what they're told. What they do, is what they're told to do. What they believe is that blinding following along behind someone who is using them to do his dirty work, is freedom and thinking for themselves.

What is a carbon based water war?

He's referring to another thread where I spanked their asses by saying that hydrogen is "carbon based." I said that because in almost every thread some fucking fool will post something so stupid that I just have to yank their leash.

The inevitable result is that the fools will continue to regurgitate the source of their foolishness for the world to see while thinking they're getting the better of everyone each time they do it.

You want to see hysterics like what I'm talking about?

Try this one:

Light is created by photons which are carbon based.

Not watch the idiots come out of the woodwork to call me stupid for saying that because they won't understand that it was said just to provoke that reaction from them.

Even when I tell them I'm doing it on purpose, they still deny it.
