Why is abortion still an issue in this day and age?

Because people still don't like the idea of killing children for convenience's sake.

Because not everyone sees things the same way.

Diversity of though is a good thing. ;)

If it were that simple, the same people who oppose abortion rights wouldn't also fight tooth and nail against better availability of contraceptives. Not to mention it's none of your business what anyone else considers "convenient" or not.

It’s considered to be an important part of Sharia law… I mean Mosaic law.

It seems sometimes as if the Christological arguments that divided 7th-Century Constantinople were not only still going on, but still politically relevant.

Because many people value innocent lives.

I actually find it very hard to believe that kind of thinking plays much of a real role in the "pro-life" movement. It seems to be more of a matter of picking sides in a tribal-cultural war. Before the 1970s, abortion was a strictly Catholic issue in which Protestant Americans took no interest. But then, in reaction to the social and cultural upheavals of the '60s and the sexual revolution of the '70s, RW Catholics and Protestants formed an alliance that would have been unthinkable in any previous period of American history, and abortion became one of that alliance's issues.

Not on EVERYTHING it isn't. There should be issues where you have a difficult time moving in polite society if you still believe this or that. This is one of those times the same way we cannot have diversity of thought that bacteria and viruses make you sick. We can't have diversity of thought on if you should take your child to the hospital if they get sick. We should be well past any diversity of thought on climate change. Though the only reason there is any is the dumbing down of America. That's why its only a debate in America not most of the world. My family is from Cleveland. We once set a fucking river on fire. We cannot diversity of thought that regulations are needed.

We can have a debate on if raising the minimum wage or a wealth tax are good ideas. If you want to argue the minimum wage should be $0 and if %50 percent of the country is living at least partially on government assistance but the trade off is that with great money for investments in tech. Maybe we really would be better off if Musk and Gates effectively had more money and Elon could pour even more money into Tesla. While I'm against monopolies I've seen damn good arguments that breaking up Ma Bell stunted the growth of cell phones perhaps by decades. We can debate how much regulation is too much. I think with anaconda is in the Everglades and those stupid Asian Carp that every few years the news covers them straight jumping out the water and knocking bitches out or alligator gar taking over our rivers. So I do think I should have reasonable control over what you can and cannot own.

Because in the future, we are going to look back on abortion and wonder what the hell were we thinking as a society.

Its going to be then, like we view slavery today...

Its just wrong.

Just the opposite. We're gonna look back and wonder how we could think of women as slaves.

Are we...?

Does that somehow diminish actual slavery
as just a relative measure of societal status?

Would you similarly contend that in some sort of neo-dystopian future,
we will look back and wonder how we thought of raising children as a slavery?

I don't see how. When you argue that a woman's body isn't really her body, that's pretty dehumanizing.

Who is arguing that?

The only thing being possibly being argued is the protection of the most helpless and vulnerable.

The woman is as free as all hell as I am concerned to do whatever she wants with her body and her womb,
but once she produces I life, I am more than happy to be in that camp that values and wants to protect it.

Just like I would want to protect your life from a post-birth "abortion" (AKA murder or criminal negligence).

And like her, I don't care too much if you prostitute yourself...

Because men, especially conservative men, are obsessed with abortion.

Who wants to channel Freud et al as to why.

Thank you for wearing a mask and getting vaccinated.

'DIVERSITY BAD!! TOE LEFITST LINE AND SHUDDUP!!!!'

Yea....my family left Korea to escape that shit and I'll lick that boot NEVER.

when I read one of their posts I see: "We need to ban abortion to protect the vulnerable". But then they say, "but wearing a mask infringes upon my personal freedumb"......

Fuck em, if they are of that mindset, legislate them a vasectomy, cause anyone kvetching on like that, shouldn't be allowed to compete in the gene pool.

In a reasonable society, the whole pro-life movement should have faded away by now, as creationism has.

Because decent, moral people have an issue with racist murderers and disgusting, racists like you, who support them. And NO, we aren’t going away!

Murder was illegal when Roe was unconstitutionally passed, and it remains illegal today!

Creation goes back thousands of years and is timeless. You can choose not to believe in it. Up to you, but to say it has “faded away” is simply ignorant. Stick to things you know something about because clearly, Christianity is a topic you’re educated on!

....the USA is a backwater country...way to many folks are "believers" in some faith which has the end result of rotting their brains. Rational reasonable thought about important issues is not what you will find unless your one of a few moderate Republicans, a moderate of either party or in the not to far left.

A good example of this, a microcosm, is right here on this board...belief begets an individualist notion of how thing should be..."I believe this" therefore, "this is how things should be." One see the word "sovereign.individual" thrown around here which when used politically gets its origins in faith and belief via God given rights. If you listen to.am right wing whackadoodles, they repeat this disinformation daily.

These folks believe they have a right, a God given one, to stop the deaths of innocent children. They believe they have the moral high ground and that their individual belief trump's law, which was decide upon by all of us...not just them. Out of this comes the insane notion that Federal and State law can never impinge on any whackadoodle thought they have because every though they have is God created, God given....that is insane in my opinion! To take your cues from something, never seen, never proven....and this has become the playbook of the right wing Republitards....for instance CRT....which does exist anywhere currently but in the minds of right wing whackadoodles....you cannot convince them otherwise of to their selective brain farts called belief.

It is the same with abortion....you cannot convince them that a fetus is not a human life. No matter how much education and training the rest of us have we are stuck babysitting immature nonsensical zealots who have some rights according to the Constitution, so they have a voice....a terrible, insane, costly one.

Easy solution. Keep legs crossed dick in unless you really want a child. Rape/incest another issue.

The USA is so fucking amazing even the people who hate it won't get the fuck out.

Lol.... incorrect again....being critical of our country isn't hating it...it's the way one makes it better than it is. This would go for any sort of improvements, whether in society or within yourself.

It surely isn't correct, that loving the USA like you say you do means everyone else should do as.you do authoritarian little man. What makes a country great is it's ability to engage in, debate, and come to new areas of acceptance and understanding even when one disagrees. For example, my acceptance of 45 as the legitimate President while he was in office inspite of not voting for him or thinking he was qualified.

It is hard to see anything but hate when your heart is rotten. You can change that...it up to you.
