I disagree. As long as 75 million Americans support that rotten excuse for a leader, we've got a real problem. A friend of mine on Facebook said it best the week after the election: "Say you invite your friends over for dinner and you have a vote on what to eat, and the nominees are pizza or we reenact Germany in the '30s. Even if pizza wins, you still have a problem."

I'm sure he didn't use those words but a huge number of them do join out of desperation. We've built the military up as an amazing opportunity and it makes you some sort of hero even though we're closing in on 20 years since there has been a foreign attack on U soil and THAT only worked because prior to that plane hijackings were always about getting to some country that would extradite or would at least give the criminal a decent head start. That's the same reason no jets were scrambled. They didn't suspect a thing because that wasn't how it was supposed to work.

We've also spent a lot of time demeaning service jobs, retail jobs yadda yadda. If we told the truth, that freedom is not a natural resource. Nobody hates us because we're free and attacking us won't make them free. That's not how it works. Picking the right leaders and factions is.

But when you're 18, expected to have a job and you can sign up for the military or work at Denny's is a no brainer. I mean look at our media, not just the news. Why do you think we have 3 G.I. Joe movies, I've lost track of the Transformers but WHEN the humans are their the military is always presented as straight up champs. Why do you think we started having football players on the field for the National Anthem and did fly overs instead staying like they until very recently. Because propaganda works. It works REALLY well.

Add on just like with the police (note we barely talk about paramedics and fire fighters in the public arena unless its an all public servants sort of thing) we've lionized them especially to children too young to know any better. Many schools have you take the ASVAB before you graduate. And yeah to brag I scored in the high 80s to low 90s in everything. (Though it didn't hurt me that males are supposed to have lower language skills than females.) As smart as I was I didn't see the trap which is that if you didn't think college was for you at 18 it probably hasn't changed at 22 and you'll never touch that G.I. Bill. You might remember to take advantage of the VA but even that isn't likely because you spend four years letting people get in your head about hard work. Yadda yadda. The VA seems like Commo Socialism after 4 years. And if you stick around longer than 6 you might be a lifer. And still never touch that GI Bill.

We all fell for it. Its kinda great when you can can hook em young cartoons like G.I. Joe then drive it home later with live action.
