Why are there no FUNNY RW humorists, comedians or cartoonists?

A thread about this topic comes up periodically, and the same thing always happens: Conservatives come in and try to steer it off-topic.

They know. ;)

Pointing out it's incorrect =/= "steering off-topic.

It's true, the Left used to be funny. Then it got woke and now there's nothing it can make fun of without fear of a career-ending joke.

One could still get away, I think, with the racism-mocking racist humor National Lampoon used to do a lot of.

The funniest comedian who sometimes attacks the left wing is Bill Maher, and he’s a liberal.

The only exception I can think of is P.J. O'Rourke, and he has not been very funny since his National Lampoon days. I have never seen a funny RW cartoon on this board. A few years ago I heard NPR do a piece on "conservative comedians," and not one of them delivered a line worth a laugh.

Why is it that the whole RW is so much worse positioned to make fun than to be made fun of?

Most have been cancelled, de-platformed, and harassed out of business, by anti-free speech leftists and woke corporate fascists.

Then there's that. This extends to the academy, where the Left has a lock on who gets to climb the greasy pole to tenure, and you can forget about even trying if you're to the right of the Khmer Rouge.

There's nothing funny about this time in history

The fact we are destroying our country is a sad sight.

Okachobi swamp dweller....no cable their, just arc flash issues with his mower powered cabin.

In my shithole, we know how to spell both "Okeechobee" and "there." And mowers don't have arc flash issues, genius.

You generally need a good social sensibility to be funny, which is not a strength for most Conservatives. That's why the vast majority of famous comedians tilt leftwards.

In the UK, traditionally it was the other way around, All the famous comedians were what would be characterised these days as "right wing." Jim Davidson, Freddie Star, Bernard Manning, Jethro, And Chubby Brown were among the most controversial, but even the likes of Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies, Les Dawson, Benny Hill, popular mainstream staples of light entertainment on tv, found themselves under attack in the eighties from a new wave of left wing comics, despite the fact that they were and are revered by many even to this day.

Benny Hill. That's the first name I recognise.

"Left-wing comics" like Tom Hanks and Robin Williams meanwhile: known worldwide, broader appeal.

jfk, that earthly twat is going back 40-50 years or more. comedians since those days are mostly left-leaning in their social commentary. and not afraid to knock 'lefties' when it's deserved.

Old Conservatives bemoan the "clean" humor the lefties "destroyed"...like the fake Asian accents, buck teeth, flapping dickey, blackface - y'know, really funny stuff!

No, the Left didn't kill any of that; Father Time did, when he gave those comedians their first heart attacks in their 40s - and the rest of the public moved on in their sensibilities. :rose:

ding ding ding!

Wit is a form of intelligence.

Yes, yes, yes...it sure is. As much as I enjoyed various comedic outlets, The Colbert Report was by far the most profound in it's depth and approach.

The Smothers Brother's were and still are awesome.

We're not destroying it. The only thing that might is climate change.

Of course you are, that's the whole objective of "progress".

To get rid of the old ideas, habits, customs and culture and replace it with a more equitable society.

No matter how totalitarian, brutal and evil you need to be to force that equity....the end justify the means. :D

I enjoy Tom Hanks but he is no comedian, nor is he really trying to be, for the most part he makes feel-good films.
As for Robin Williams, he wasn't todays version of left wing, he wasn't ashamed of himself for being white, and he probably only recognised two genders like most sane people do - even when he did Mrs Doubtfire. :D
