What will the Taliban do with Afghanistan now?

Will it be a hard-Islamist state like it was before? Or has the long struggle to return to power taught them to relax on certain points?

After they slaughter thousands, burn women and girls alive who displayed their hair, they'll turn it into a massive terror base.

They had Afghanistan before and seemingly implemented a hardcore Islamist state that welcomes anyone who holds an extreme stance on Islam.

I think an important question will be how Pakistan responds to the situation. (And then how the US responds in kind there)

And will a younger generation of Afghans be able to survive the Taliban rule long enough to eventually turn the tide?

I doubt we'll know for 5 or 6 years how this will develop.

Fuck Pakistan. They built the Taliban. They started them. They funded them. They trained them. They harbored them. They get what they deserve

I was rather surprised that Pakistan was allowed to stay out of the war to begin with. I guess the Pentagon somehow saw them as a potential ally.

I wasn't speaking about Pakistan from a "how will the Taliban rule effect them?" Standpoint.

I'm curious what they will do because of it. Who they will support? Who they will recognize in relations. Whether they will take in refugees and protect them...etc

And then how they will react to the US overall with respects to things.

From what I have read, the first priority of the Taliban is the execution of 250 or so female judges. The Taliban does not approve of women judging Sharia law.

When the US and A foolishly invaded, the Taliban noted that the US and A have the clocks, but the taliban has the time.

I also read that when trump was negotiating with the taliban they did not include the Afghan government in those talks. Trump undermined all the work the troops did. Sad.

Agreed.

And what is more let them have a capitol and convene there. That way we will know where to turn the sand into glass.

I guess their men folk don't care about that. They dropped their guns and stripped off their uniforms as as fast as they could. Glad we spent 100 billion training and arming and equipping them.

Yes, the afghan govt was slighted. It might very well have been the reason they folded so quickly.....not sure.

I wish that there was a way to better support and advance their plight.

I truly wish that religion was not a part of any governmental decisions of the world

They folded into the Taliban. Made deals to stand down and merge. The Trump administration decision not to include the Afghan government in the talks was acknowledgement right there of where this was all headed. If not before, the behind-the-scenes real draw down of U.S. assets there (including the Afghan support personnel) should have started right there, under the Trump administration. It didn't. The Trump administration can't, in my view (and wasn't at the time) be faulted for the decision to withdraw. It can be faulted for not actually doing anything to effect that. That was the totality of Trump administration foreign policy--clear out the desks and just talk.

Interesting little factoid revealed today, that in the week following the former guy's deal to release 5,000 hardcore terrorists from prison in February 2020, thirteen percent of the Afghan army went full-BoBo and deserted. They knew what was coming. Over the next six months virtually half of the Afghan army deserted.

This embiggened the Taliban, who began offering amnesty and cash bribes to local officials who would allow the Taliban to pass through their territories unimpeded.

So which attack was more deadly, the Taliban on Kabul, or the Trump supporters on the Capitol?

I highly doubt they will be moderating. They are already ordering that all girls 15 and over "register." I guess the creepy, old perverts running the Taliban need new young virgins to rape.

Rape and pillage.

Interesting that the Muslims in surrounding countries aren't sending in troops to protect civilians

hi

obviously afghans would return to stone age without boarding time machine, especially the womenfolk.

I think they're preparing a throne for their new Orange King.

Yeah, that is really surprising......

I know, I'm stating the obvious, but I never see the point being made. That became clear to me when US troops fought to protect the women and children from Iraqi troops. None of those good Muslim countries got their hands dirty.
