DeSantis claims ignorance on ventilators...chuckles

It's called "delegating authority", that's how good managers operate a business.

--------------

" Psaki told reporters. "I think the most important question here is why would you oppose receiving the ventilators when clearly you need those in your state given the percentage of hospitalizations that are occurring?"

Pushaw tweeted the request was not made by DeSantis and it was a "routine" request:

"Why is the Biden Admin trying to make this into a huge political issue? Nobody from @GovRonDeSantis office asked for ventilators. @HealthyFla did, and there’s a standard / routine process, the Governor doesn’t need to be looped in on it.

Weird....fascist traitor biguy supports DeSantis dictating no masks...but when the health system has to BEG for equipment...he conveniently claims ignorance. If you are knowledgeable enough to make decisions like no masks...you are knowledgeable enough to BEG for supplies to keep your citizens alive. You would think....govt agencies talk with another

A good manager would be up to date on a decision like this, even if he wasn't the one who made it. Some are even arguing DeathSentence's subordinates made a point of keeping him out of the loop because they knew he'd say no.

Exactly.

Should be easy to prove the fucker is lying with the Freedom of Information Act. No one...especially in Govt...doesn't CC their superiors of any decision you made. Let me repeat that...no one.

That actually sounds plausible.

It also sounds Trumpian. I recall reading how his subordinates would sometimes swipe objectionable things and ill-considered proposals off his desk in hopes he would simply forget about them -- and it always worked.

That is so absurd it's laughable.
Do you have any clue how many departments there are in a state government, let alone a state government for a state as populated as Florida? My God, if every department head emailed DeSantis with every decision they made, the governor would have no time to do anything but read email.
If DeSantis is smart, and he is, he will not require his department heads to get permission from his office to obtain 300 ventilators from the federal government.

And in response to an earlier post, it speaks volumes for the brainpower of some people when they think states should have to "beg" for ventilators from the federal government. We are all Americans, and Joe Biden cares equally about all of us, though it's obvious he doesn't give a shit about people who live in southern border communities.

Yes I do know how it works. Everything is Cc'd. Everything. It is not only smart...it is the law. This decision was not made by a lower piss ant. It was made by the Head of the Health Department of Florida. Heads of Departments alway Cc the person right above them. In this case...who would that be? That's right...the Governor. I never sent an Email without it being Cc'd to at least 2 other people. It is called "no surprises".

Where did the respirators come from? What were they there for? An emergency situation? One where you are competing with other states that also didn't use common sense? Damn right they begged. Help us help us...we are overwhelmed. Sure...we will help you. We will put politics aside and do the right thing...we can talk later why you didn't.

FTR: DeSantis will never be president, and nominating him would be the worst political mistake the GOP could make, with the sole exception of nominating Trump again. The next Republican POTUS if there ever is one will have roots in the Lincoln Project.

You hit on my point best....it isn't possible for him to know everything. He surely knows he isn't in control of everything as Governor and he wants to control the narrative (shit he is shoveling) so he has made an absurd statement.

He clearly seems to want to appear authoritarian (in control) of something that is not possible.

He should,.as Governor, know what the hell is going on with Covid in Hospitals at any moment....he doesn't...because his belief overrides his commitment to his duties as Governor.

People on the left like you need to come to terms with the fact that Trump is not going away and you all on the left are responsible for it. Lincoln Project type Republicans are not going to take over the Republican Party. They are just establishment Republicans and they were kicked out of the party by Trump's hostile takeover. For the last 50 years any disagreement with a Democrat always resulted in the Republican called a racist. The Republican politician just sat there and took it. Trump came along and told you to fuck off. That's why you're seen more combative Republicans now. This is what you all wanted.

And what do you think his duties as governor are? :)

No, it's not.

Because the left doesn't decide who the GOP or independents vote for.

See post above your question...that is one duty....and to know if his State is having a medical crisis due to a pandemic due to the behavior of citizens in his state and offer help, assistance, corrective actions as necessary.

One would hope to not see politics and falsehoods ...which DeSantis does engage in during this press briefing. Mostly, because he is pandering to the fake virus, anti-vaccine, anti-mask crowd that make up his party(his electorate).

Among many other duties....

"Delegating Authority"...Authority? Authoritarian?...are these the same words? Chuckles

No. You're just wrong.

Governor =/= strong arm of the nanny state there to protect people from their own stupid.

So, just like every politician including Biden and the other beloved (D)eez.

Among many other duties....

Not a single one which you could name.

You don't seem to know what a governors job is.... did you not go to HS in the USA?? Or did you just get shoved through your civics class so the public babysitting center could get funding for you being there??

You rest cases, not points, and even if you did, you'd have to make a point first.

Something you're thus far totally incapable of doing. :D

Wanna wager in how many School Districts in Florida require students to be masked in direct contradiction of the Governor's order?

Until Florida changes the law Legislatively...it is the School Boards that have the power to mandate masks. Not the Governor. Law is law.

Right....the interviews with School Administrators across Florida was a repeat of,."we will do what we feel is in the best interest.of our students and community" and " DeSantis's mask-less mandate is not legal."

So, he is nothing more than a puppet wanting to appear like a tough guy authoritarian (pandering).

This is bizarre, not to mention false.

School Boards are given this power to make these decisions from the State Legislatures. What exactly the power is depends on the state. But it is easily found out by searching "legislative power of school boards " and adding the state of interest. Only the State Legislatures have the power to change those laws...not the Governor
