Should USA stop bombing Afghanistan (at todays date)

no biggie really, but USA and UK and have dropped the place right in the shit due to sudden and inexplicable withdrawls. The Taliban now seem to be in full takeover mode. So what happens? USA carry out Mr Bushes threat to bomb the place back into the stone age (clue - its barely left it anyway) in an attempt to reverse the situation.

for balance UK government arent much better.

Whats the point? Pissin them off is just going to buy you another 9/11, and what value is there in prolonging a war you have lost. But dont feel too bad, the british and the russians lost too.

it struck me as strange that a country not connected to 9/11 (unlike say Saudi Arabia) should be bombed back to the stone age, have a 20 year occupation in which many on all sides died, then suddenly be abandoned but yet again bombed by B52 bombers after USA and shithouse Johnson withdraw.

My opinion is, if the Afghans wont put up any type of resistance towards the Taliban, why waste our collective efforts? 2 decades of meddling and money haven't seemed to make a difference. From a humanitarian stand point, its a potential disaster, but time will tell.

I dont think the US will be caught off gaurd like we were with 9/11. If nothing else, we've gained 20 years of experience and intel in the region. Its a shame that so many lives were lost to end up where we began. Personally, I know 3 service members who died in the middle east and 2 that have had debilitating wounds. That isnt counting the mental toll its taken and some of my closest friends. I haven't had a chance to talk with them about the current situation, but i know they were for pulling out years ago.

Far as I know, we have. Admittedly, we have no actual journalists left in America much less those of the investigative stripe, so we may not be getting accurate "news."

We gave up the air bases needed to reach the Taliban where it matters in June. The Afghani Air Force was disallowed the needed foreign maintenance contractors to keeo anything in the air so they can't even do the bombing if we had the assets to tell them where to bomb.

The vaunted 20 years of intel experience was just wrong.

The Biden Administration just got caught off guard by the Taliban.
They were so deluded by their political base and inclinations that they had
convinced themselves that we could just completely bug out and nothing of consequence
would occur. It's as if they did not learn a single thing from our Iraqi experience.
You would think that they would have relished showing the American People,
that the Democrats could get foreign policy right, but alas,
they were just hapless in their effort.
