I have been considering writing some additional chapters to one of my old stories, Wedding Vows.

I received few comments on the story. I don;t want to go through a lot of effort if the story is not worth it.

What's your motivation in writing the story? Are you writing because you're driven to write? Or are you writing because you crave an audience and want a reader response? Only you can answer that.

You're writing in Fetish, your story preamble notes incest and dominance themes, your story title talks about wedding vows. One can assume therefore, without even reading the story, that you're combining kinks into something that's probably very niche. That's going to have a very limited audience. My guess is, it's either a very personal niche (yours) or you're trying to appeal to too many niches in the one story cycle. It doesn't sound like everyone's cup of tea.

You don't sound very motivated. If that's the case, why bother? Surely you know what you get out of writing, and isn't that some kind of personal satisfaction?

Good advice above. I see the first part got 6 comments, were they positive, neutral or otherwise? One of the best writers on incest, has his comments turned off. And I originally wasn't a fan of that genre, but his stories are just good. As electricblue66 said, it's about your own motivation.

If you have a good idea for a sequel then write it. If you are considering writing a sequel just for the sake of it then forget it. Comments from readers who’ve liked the story and saying they want a sequel because they’ve enjoyed the story mean nothing. They don’t have to write it. I’ve had several stories where readers have asked for a sequel but my imagination won’t come up with a storyline I’m happy with so I forget about it.

I have a story in Humour & Satire, Paddy the Irish Vampire (https://www.literotica.com/s/paddy-the-irish-vampire) which I will be deleting because I’m continuing the original story (without changing anything) to write a much longer story which will be going in Erotic Horror. I know it seems a bit of a jump but my mind says the new story will be better set in that category.

I’m writing the new story because I want to and because I believe the new extended story is worth writing and not writing it because readers have requested it or just for the sake of it.

Readers often ask for sequels. Sometimes they inspire me to do one. And sometimes it takes a while to come up with one, if ever. I suspect some anonymous commenters have no idea of what is involved in writing.

Only your typing fingers know for sure.

That comes down to my motivation to write in the first place. I like telling stories. I also like people to enjoy what I write. I am not going to write into a vacuum just to write. Done that once.
Yes, i like feedback, good and bad. I want to write stuff people want to read. I'd love to make a few bucks off my writing, but what the hell.
I remember several decades ago in school, my teacher asked, why did the author write this story. My answer,"to make money. That's his job.'" did NOT go over well.
