Florida sets record for most new COVID cases during the pandemic — as GOP governor rages against masks

The state of Florida on Saturday reported the most new daily cases of coronavirus during the entire history of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Miami Herald reports.

Florida reported 21,683 new cases to the Centers for Disease Control, which is 12.1% higher than the previous record that was set on January 7th.

"The last half of July looks like the start of Florida's third COVID-19 peak, as the case numbers reported Thursday (17,093), Friday (17,589) and Saturday mix in with Jan. 6-8 to comprise the top six individual case count days. The average over the last seven days is 15,817 cases," the newspaper reported.

Ron DeSantis is 'like the pied piper leading everybody off a cliff' as COVID surges: Miami Beach mayor

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis was harshly criticized on CNN as Florida set its daily record for the most number of new coronavirus cases in the history of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber explained why DeSantis was failing at responding to the pandemic during an interview with CNN's Ryan Nobles.

"Where do you currently stand on mandating masks and also on mandating vaccinations for your city employees?" Nobles asked.

"We're not allowed to have mask mandates right now," Gelber replied. "We were one of the first cities to require it. We charged a fine just to get people to do it. The governor stopped allowing us to do it, then immediately we saw a surge across our county and state when he did that. So we're in a very tough position."

Probably no worse than the common flu, which miraculously has seemed to completely disappear, for the first time in history, over the last two years.

'Going in the wrong direction': Ron DeSantis under fire as Florida now accounts for 1 in 5 new US COVID cases

The state of Florida now accounts for one in five new coronavirus infections in the United States, making it the nation's most alarming hot spot as the highly transmissible Delta strain rips through undervaccinated communities and drives a surge in hospitalizations.

According to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Florida has recorded 73,181 new Covid-19 cases over the past week, the most in the country. Florida also logged the most coronavirus deaths of any U.S. state in the last seven days—319—and hospitalizations are spiking, prompting dire warnings from physicians and calls for public safety measures to stop the spread.

But Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican and likely 2024 presidential candidate, has recently taken to mocking such measures; earlier this month, the governor's team launched a new merchandise line that includes a koozie with the quote, "How the hell am I going to be able to drink a beer with a mask on?"

How the hell can you drink beer if you're DEAD?:)

" DeSantis was failing at responding to the "

Not only failing to respond, but Ronny Insanus is actively fighting against even the most basic precautions.

When will somebody have the Nads to charge him with something along the lines of manslaughter?

It’s almost as if Floridians are going about their lives living like normal people. Businesses and schools open, no vaccine passports, no mask mandates.

What are the current numbers? The current death rate on Covid cases is .0007% Stop spreading panic among the dumb.

It isn't about mortality stupid one. It is about financial repercussions of not being vaccinated. If only the unvaccinated paid for that choice...no Democrat would care. But once again...we have to bail the retarded out. We are getting pretty fucking sick of it

When is someone going to charge Cuomo, Whitmer and the three other D'rat Gov's that stacked the nursing homes with infected and killed over 50,000 elderly?????

The spread of COVID depends on two things:

1. How dense the population is
2. How dense the population is

You haters can say what you will about DeSantus, but I dare you to name one other governor who cut short their west coast trip to return to their home state during a pandemic.

Both of the last two flu seasons had much lower infection rates than before, because of heightened public awareness, social distancing, sanitizing protocols, and facemask wearing.

Translation: I hate people who ask questions I can't answer, especially in areas I'm too lazy to investigate on my own.

There was no question posed by you you dimwit. Lol

All you did was say stupid shit your orange god said in the past. How can you be so old yet so stupid?

NO!!!

It's because the supposed covid "test" can't tell the difference between the flu and covid, and everything got called covid no matter what!
