Full ICUs in Florida as Deplorable COVID tactics from DeSantis fail miserably

Fuck em. Do you know how many nurses will quit because of this? So even after it is long and gone...they will get shitty service.

Miami has more than one hospital. There’s plenty of available capacity in the system. They are in the midst of a spike right now, but they’ve treated far more patients in prior months. Per the FL DOH, as of yesterday Florida hospitals are currently utilizing 82% of available capacity and surge capacity can be added if needed. As of 7/15, 75% of the county’s over 12 population has been received at least one vaccine shot. They are not reporting the % that have gotten both shots at the county level, but statewide the figure is 51.2% as of 7/15.

If this still has you thoroughly freaked out, I suppose you’re also upset that FL isn’t imposing mask mandates.

Hell, most locals here don't even count Miami as Florida.

The running joke is you need to show your passport when crossing from Ft Lauderdale to Cuba North.

And north of Palm Bch is hundreds of miles of wide open, unpopulated country that is surviving just fine!!

Rory just likes to hear himself whine about Republican Patriots.

call Bullshit on this type of story.

ICU capacities always....... repeat always try to run as close to 100% full capacity.
It is extraordinarily expensive to staff and stock an ICU for true trauma support. You don't want that to empty and idle if you want to stay in business.

The only people getting COVID and hospitalized are the the non- vaccinated.
So, hmmmm. You could get vaccinated and basically poof.... you are safe.

Close the vaccine centers and voila. Plenty of available nurses.

Exactly. FL had over 10K hospitalized earlier this year. It’s around 6.6K now. 82% occupancy is pretty much in the normal range for most regions. There are vaccinated people in the hospital with Covid though. Probably a very small percentage, and probably concentrated among people immunologically compromised (ie. the known high-risk groups)

Unpopulated country? Have you been to Florida?
