What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

My favourite main course salad including cooked ham, cheddar cheese, beetroot chunks and crispy onions. Dressed with mayonnaise 😍

White, yellow and purple cauliflower and romanesco broccoli with leek, peas, sunflower seeds and perch.

A couple of weeks ago: I got the thin end of a beef tenderloin from my butcher, wrapped it in double-smoked bacon and slow cooked it in a reverse sear on my pellet grill.

The "sliced" pics were awful...but it was a perfect medium rare at each and and rare in the middle for me...

Too bad: that salmon looks delicious and the risotto (?) looks perfect.

Mushroom risotto made with dried imported mushrooms given to me by a friend. It was really, really good and I have a bit leftover for today.

Sigh...I try to like fish just as I try to like eggplant. It never works for me.

How long did you search for a platter to match your counter?

I'll take your tenderloin any day!

I had a gas station burrito, a cherry icee, and bag of gummy bears past their expiration date.

Steamed new potatoes are so good! Especially almond potatoes. I could probably eat a kilo of them.

Oooh me too. I’m Irish, it’s what we eat. New potatoes are too delicate to be boiled.
What are almond potatoes? Are they really tiny like Drillinge?

hahaha. Is that a euphemism?

I needed a smaller melamine platter for the BBQ, and was looking in Canadian Tire (I can't explain Canadian Tire except to say they sell more than tires) and found this ONE and ONLY ONE in a pile of assorted platters in the BBQ department.

I'll join in with leftovers.

The last bowl of homemade tomato basil soup with a several day old Chicago hard roll. 1/2 of an Ambrosia apple for dessert.

No frills and fast lunch. Yum!

Gracie! I Googled what a Chicago hard roll is. It’s a bread product from a grocery chain that is not in the Chicago area? What? I must be feeling what the people of France feel regarding French fries.

They're similar to a NY hard roll. Not sure why the chain puts Chicago on the label but they are perfect with soups and stews.

I made shrimp scampi over pasta, and a local mozzarella, garden tomato and garden basil salad with balsamic and olive oil, cracked pepper and sea salt.
So simple. So good.
I didn’t plant a garden this year because my puppy dug it up last year, but my neighbors next door came through. Delicious.

Ahhh, so jealous! I can't get decent tomatoes here.

Too humid/hot to eat really, but we managed some matjes, potatoes, sourcream and chives.
