I have seen many threads about Mr. Anon E. Mouse casting aspersions from the shadows, but I've noticed he tends to treat me with kid gloves. It reminds me of the scene in Blazing Saddles when an old lady brings the Sherriff a pie for helping the town before saying, "Of course, you'll have the good taste not to mention that I spoke to you." Afterwards Sherriff Bart proclaims that he is becoming an "Underground Success".

I got curious after one anonymous left positive comments on three stories, so I tallied them up. Anon has left me 5 negative and 13 positive comments. Does anyone else tend to catch his sunny side or should I be worried about who my allies are?

Anonymous commenters get a bad rap. There are some bad eggs, but most leave positive comments.

Most anons are reasonable. But the others? Racist. abusive, and didn't read the story before spewing their bile...

Some of the best comments I have are anonymous. I have a few negatives too, but not nearly enough to offset the positives.

I've gotten some fine comments and even genuinely interesting critiques from Anonymous users. For me, the obnoxious ones seem to have been deterred by simple deletion (or at any rate they stop trying after their first comment gets nuked, I have a feeling most of those rely on the author feeling a sense of obligation to "engage" with toxic comments).

I had to turn off Anonymous comments just because there are enough slope-headed Pakleds who spew vitriol all over my comments wall to make it annoying. Racist and misogynistic twaddle, calling for the extermination of black, brown, and indigenous people. Comments dropped by 75%, but I won't give trolls a platform.

Not all Anonymous commenters are cowards, but all cowards comment anonymously. It's a pity, but until they're exterminated, my wall remains closed. Apologies to the 99% out there who are actual nice people.

The majority of anon comments-and votes-are good ones, which is why I always feel people are doing themselves a disservice when they turn off anon comments and votes.

In general this site has fairly soft voting and mostly positive comments. If you were to take away the turd mountain known as Loving wives, the percentage of positive anon would rise drastically.

Today, I got a very long and very, very nice anonymous comment. At the end, the person said:
I confess this is my first note of appreciation to an author of any kind. I came here looking only for a cheap thrill, and instead I find myself changed. Thank you for sharing your stories.

P.S. Anonymous, yes, but a conscious choice and not from Cowardice. I'd rather you imagine another thousand readers with the same feelings but no voice than to attach a singular name.

Vitriolic anonymous comments are annoying and sometimes you wish you could confront them but, of course, you can’t. They’re cowards which is why they remain anonymous. They hit and then they run. On to another writers comments. I have no disagreement with any writer who deletes comments by that kind of anonymous.

But I think turning off all comments isn’t the answer. That’s why I don’t do it. One of the reasons being if I do I’m giving them the satisfaction of having won. But by deleting their individual comment, without responding, it makes it a waste of time their making the comment in the first place. I also feel all the better for it, happy and satisfied.

But if all comments are turned off genuine readers, anonymous and otherwise, are prevented from making comments about how they liked my story and, more importantly, making constructive comments. Because no matter how good a writer I think I may be there’s always room for improvement. In my opinion, I think every writer looks back at their work and thinks there are some things they could have done better.

Most anonymous comments are very nicely worded even if they are critical.

That really is a nice comment. Glad you could inspire that reaction from someone.

Those comments really make one's day, don't they?

My anons are overwhelmingly lovely. I've been here almost ten years and I can only remember a couple of obnoxious anons on my stories, though I think it varies a lot by category.

Agree completely. And if you were magically able to eliminate all the crap comments in Loving Wives, you'd still find that there are plenty of good comments in Loving Wives, including anonymous ones. The good eggs are obscured by the stench of the rotten ones.

I'll say this, too: putting aside the Loving Wives BTB crowd and their venom, I'd say at least half of the negative comments I've received for all my stories, including the anon comments, have a good point to make.

My anon comments are nearly all positive, and the few negatives are at least thoughtful and coherent, with a reason given for their dislike. My most moving comments have been from Anon.

Always nice to wake up to something like this. Especially in LW :D

Great story!
Absolutely don't understand the Mallory haters. Steve pushed her to date. Steve told her his feelings had changed. Steve stayed out all night. Steve agreed to wait until they had worked out their separation; then he didn't wait. As far as the story goes, Mallory its a faithful wife before she receives Ethan's call while Steve was having lunches with his co-worker. He deserved the duct tape treatment!!
Loved the twists and turns. Sad to see a marriage fail but liked realistic treatment of two people growing apart.

Love how you always defend the category. You believe that, or just trying to justify posting there and feeding the animals for votes and views?

I imagine the decent readers over there probably hate the incels and other impotent dickless factions more than anyone because they came swooping in over the years and took over the neighborhood.

Seeing more and more people are moving their stories to Fetish and other cats to avoid them I imagine the decent readers will be following that example and looking elsewhere for stories that are meant to be stories and not hate filled shit written by hate filled shit for hate filled shit who spew behind a keyboard and jack off to BTB rape fantasies.

You can try all you want, but you can't polish a turd. Loving Wives is the perfect example of all of Lits hypocrisy when they claim to have standards. same goes for the authors there.

Well hey, look through enough shit you'll find a piece of corn here and there.

Feed me enough grapes and I'll shoot 'em right back at the commenters. :D

To be fair LC I get a lot of great comments in LW. They're not all creeps. I delete those.

I don't even know what you're saying. It's not coherent.

There's no need to defend the "category", whatever you mean by that. I believe the category, as it was originally intended by the Site owners as a place for stories about women who have sex outside marriage, to the enjoyment of themselves and their husbands, is a perfectly legitimate fantasy subject. I enjoy those stories.

If you actually take the time to read my posts, you'll see I never defend the "incel" attitude or the "aggrieved victim of cheating women who wants revenge against women" attitude. I've never once defended that. In fact, I've often criticized that. It's the only Literotica kink I've come close to shaming, at times. I think people should feel free to write and read whatever they want to, but this is a kink I don't understand, and I think it's perfectly legitimate to ask questions about it. I've done that quite a few times. But I've never said, "Don't write that" because I think people should write what they want.

My sole point -- which is indisputably true, if you pay attention to reality -- is that Loving Wives is a big tent category with many factions. There's a big BTB element. But there's also a big readership that does NOT fit that description. And you can't dispute that, if you pay attention.

I've decided that it's sufficiently poisonous that I don't want to post stories there. Maybe I'll change my mind in the future, but I've had good experiences posting "hot wife" and similar stories elsewhere, and I'll probably keep doing that.

You get on a soap box, and you get convinced of one particular narrative, and it's impossible to knock you off that, regardless what people really say and what the facts are. You think everybody who disagrees with you is a brown noser and a snob and a cool kid and you're the uncool kid speaking truth to power like a character in a 1980s John Hughes movie, and that's just the most ridiculous narrative of all.

It is annoying to filter the crap comments.

It is also easy to see which are who they portray themselves to be as themselves and those who have a profile attempting to conceal their actual desire or conceal they are the fat old troll they are in real life.

The best comments come from those who write the stories. Thanks for that.

Me. I'm just horny and enjoy that I found this treasure trove! And I got to post a close up of my sac in my avitar....

Now if I could just find where my avitar went.

It is annoying to filter the crap comments.

I delete the crap ones because I get a lot of racists and incels, and my good readers have messaged me expressing distress about the garbage comments left on my wall that they have to wade through. So I turned off anonymous comments, because no coward would leave one of those remarks under his account.

1) Sick-minded Pakleds will never use my stuff as a platform for spreading their hate, I won't left them.

2) I was rather touched that it upset some of my readers enough to express their concerns to me. So it's also a favour to them.

I would rather not have to turn off Anonymous comments, because 95% of them are good, or at least constructive. But I simply do not have the time or inclination to wade through the sewer overflow of racists and misogynists and keep cleaning my wall off. Once they're exterminated from the species, I'll happily do it.

Be polite, keep it constructive. It's just too much effort and too many brain cells for these people. Fuck 'em. Go be sick on Parler.

Oh, wait... they can't. It's gone.

Ha! Losers... XD

It's been so long since I turned Anon off that I don't remember anything but him spewing his vile unmitigated vomit in my comment section. Hence the turning him off.

You do know that Anon is a guy or maybe one of the 70 other genders everyone wants to be.
