I guess I'll be the first to say it. Bob Dole is still alive?
"I'm a Trumper...he lost the election and I regret that he did..."
That's a sad final legacy to leave for yourself, Mr. Dole.![]()
I'm no Bob Dole fan but he is from a time when the GOP were still patriots.
To what?
That doesn't make him not an asshole, loyal to NuttinYahoo and a 'patriot' to the GOP lobbyists money.
Lots of wounded Vets are in prison for crimes, or in back alleys shooting up. Hell, Vets were storming the Capitol.

I think you're way out of line on Dole. He was long retired before the Trump style of "Republican" came in. He was indeed a patriot throughout his career and gave his health and body parts in the cause of patriotism. And his time in politics wasn't anything like the Republicans now. He was a conservative in Congress, yes, but he played by rules and patriotic traditions.
It's a disappointment that he is so party that he would vote for Trump, who ruined his party, just because Trump had usurped and carried the party flag, but I think it's quite wrong to deny his patriotism to the United States. You can be an asshole and a patriot at the same time.
You can also be an asshole to ignore actual service to the country when you were called to give it.
Trump didn’t ruin the Republican Party. Having an abundance of balless RINOs in both the house and senate ruined the party

Bob Dole is one of the last vestiges of The Greatest Generation. He's been a Republican all of his life, that's all he's ever known. George H.W. Bush was another one.
He's hard-wired to support whomever the Republicans select as a candidate, it makes perfect sense for him to support the former guy in that regard. Hell, he had a lot of guys who didn't like him (Dole) when he ran for president in 1996 who ended up supporting him on the ticket.
I wonder, though, how he reconciled his lifelong loathing of all things Soviet and Communist with the former guy's complete capitulation of American foreign policy to Putin's kleptocracy.
