Really, how many women actually get pg from someone other than their husband/boyfriend?
Seems to be a theme in LW, but IRL? Anyone?

No one with an I.Q. greater than 90 should ever use the word "preggers".

15/20 years ago there was a blind study done on this very subject, DNA based.

If the couple were not married approx. 30% of the children were not sired by the male of record. More astonishingly within married couples upwards of 10% were not sired by the male of record.

The study drew all sorts of hate from the feminists and to my knowledge there has been no follow up studies.

You know you have to at least 18 to post here.

Why would feminists care? Illegitimacy rates in the US have been steadily increasing since the 40s. Even before DNA studies, the results you mention were commonly accepted. So what? Guys have been screwing around outside marriage forever, and get to brag about it too. No doubt women have been fucking around too, but it's never been accepted.

I have no doubt that hate was spewed, but can't imagine why a feminist would do anything other than celebrate the truth.

Because Ish knows fuck all about feminists, women in general, and sexuality.

Good question. Kept Jerry Springer in business for years. (Is he still on the air?)

It could be that some states began to amend their laws as to who was going to be on the hook for the child support. But that's just a guess.

Do you have a link to the study? And also one to the “feminists” hating the study?

Hope you're not holding your breath waiting on that.

Where Ish is concerned, there's a thin line between "anecdata" and fairy tales. :D

Years ago, I read somewhere that as many as 25% of children born are not the children of the man that thinks he is the father. But I don't remember where those statistics came from. Those numbers seem high to me, but I do think that there are a significant number of "cheating" pregnancies.

All these studies are strangely "years ago"... I can't see how it can be regarded as cheating when Jesus loves every sperm and zygot and all are welcome in His House, even cheaters and prostitutes. We should celebrate the wonder of begatting, preggership and womanlyhood.

Is bastard a gendered word? Can women be bastards?

Not entirely sure how "sired" is used Over There, but "preggers" is respectable Brit slang (if that's not an oxymoron). Not a big BBC America fan, I take it.

Sorry (not sorry) but what I’m not a fan of is someone so uncomfortable with pregnancy and/or the state of being pregnant they have to resort to slang such as “preggers.” It has nothing to do with my status as an American or whether I have a penchant for BBC.

Cute attempt at humor though.
