Re-read the study....delta came from the large number of asymptomatic.and also symptomatic spreaders. This mutation, the virus adapting to it's conditions and taking advantage of opportunities, now spreads like wildlife and that will result significantly more deaths in all catagories....that is what is being observed via data. Those ending up in the hospital.

The risk of mutation to the point it makes the current vaccines less or ineffective goes up when folks don't get vaccinated, follow good distancing practices including wearing masks...

Did you read the study cited in the article you shared? The study said that out of 780,969 Covid patents discharged from the hospital in April, May, and June, 3,222 were between the ages of 18 and 34. In other words .004. Four tenths of one percent.

Here is additional information (copied and pasted directly from the study cited in your article) about that population:

“The mean (SD) age of this population was 28.3 (4.4) years; 1849 (57.6%) were men and 1838 (57.0%) were Black or Hispanic. Overall, 1187 (36.8%) had obesity, 789 (24.5%) morbid obesity, 588 (18.2%) diabetes, and 519 (16.1%) hypertension.”

Viruses spawn mutations , to gain an advantage in the host's immune system.
Novel Viruses are inherently more dangerous due the host's immune systems lacking any previous exposure to the "new" virus.

So only using the three basic points above, we learn that a virus can mutate, and if there are enough willing hosts ( I use willing instead of anti vaccers). Mutation can lead to more deadly ( and less deadly) variants.

If COVID-19 mutates to a variant that current vaccines offer no protection, we could all be right back in the same boat as we were at this point in 2020. Only this time round the virus might actually boast higher CFR, across the entire age spectrum.....
