I submitted my story on the 7th, now it's the 15th and it's still under review. Why is it taking so fucking long? This shit is fucking ridiculous.

5 days isn't unusually long, but 8 is getting up there so it's understandable that you are frustrated.

Does it still show as merely "pending"? You could send Laurel a PM to see if there's anything wrong. Think about whether there's anything in the story content or formatting that might hold things up, like grammar, punctuation, spelling, controversial content, paragraph formatting.

Eight days is long enough to ask the submissions editor directly about the delay. (Laurel via the Private Message system, upper right of this page if you have PMs turned on. It you don't, you can turn them on via "User CP," upper left of this page.) A week is longer than normal and would justify a query. There is only one submissions editor here, Laurel, and she doesn't tool around on this discussion board. Sometimes the answer is that the story didn't actually get submitted. You might keep the possibility in mind in the wording of your query to the editor. Folks using this site aren't entitled.

Did you submit it as an uploaded file? The one time that I uploaded a file rather than pasting into the HTML editor, it sat in pending for over a week. I resubmitted using the editor and it was up in three days.

Eight days is a little long, yes, but not unusual. You're a new author with no previous content, so your story will be given some additional scrutiny to ensure it adheres to the site's content policies and formatting guidelines.

You could try a polite PM to 'Laurel', now that you've got her attention.

Hello!

Stories generally take around 48-72 hours to be posted. If your story has not moved for longer than that, the first thing to do is to check here:
https://www.literotica.com/my/#/works/stories/pending?page=1

If your story is not showing on this page, it means that you have not submitted it to us. Please check here:
https://www.literotica.com/my/#/works/stories/drafts?page=1
If your story is showing at the link above, it means your story is still in Drafts. Please click on the story. Scroll to the bottom and click the PREVIEW button, then click SUBMIT on the next page. Once you've done this, please check your PENDING queue. Your story should show there now.

Well there you go, that worked! Eight minutes for a response. Pays to be nice, I guess :).

I sent Laurel a very politely worded pm 10 days ago about a submitted story and I’m still waiting for a response. Luck of the draw, I guess. But I was asking for a specific answer which couldn’t be dealt with by an automated response so I assume that’s why.

Probably not luck of the draw. What was your question?

This is the pm I sent to Laurel. The story was submitted in Loving Wives.

“Hi Laurel,

I submitted a story a few days ago (6/1/21) which was rejected with the snuff/vore reason. I submitted it again (6/5/21) with the following comment in the notes to admin section and it was rejected for a second time the same day.

“This story has been rejected as snuff/vore etc. No one dies. No one is tortured. All sex is consensual. Every person gets satisfaction albeit in different ways. No one is harmed and as I’ve said no one dies. I can’t change it because I don’t know what’s unacceptable.”

I assume there’s a word or phrase that’s triggered an automatic rejection because, with the amount of stories you receive, I can’t see you having the time to be able to read a complete story of that length.

If it’s a question of altering/removing a word or phrase I can’t see it being a problem but I need to know what it is before I can make an amendment.

At 22,284 words and hours of my time I don’t want to ditch it if there’s a simple amendment which can be made. But, once again, I need to know what the problem is in order to solve it.

I know you are a busy person but I would appreciate your assistance, please.”

I’ve been through the story many times in the last 11 days and can’t find anything that could be construed as snuff or vore.

I wouldn't expect Laurel to reply to that PM. Her usual response is to either fix a problem or do nothing at her discretion. Either way, she doesn't usually answer, and explanations are rare.

Is there violent content in the story? Among other things, you could be missing the "etc." part of "suff/vore etc."

Oh, I don't agree. I think she should respond to housekeeping queries.

I'd like to know how this thread example worked out, though. The indication is that the OP didn't actually get it submitted. If not, I think the OP should take another look at the attitude expressed in the OP--the assumption it has to be someone else's fault and that they deserve to be abused.

No response from the original poster since Laurel's input. That makes me suspect that he'd left his story in draft. It's easy for that to happen, and then people get upset and blame the site for their own mistake.

I'm inclined to think so, too. Laurel can easily see if a story is in her editor's queue, and one assumes, can see drafts sitting on the server. I suspect the OP might be thinking, "Gosh, maybe I could have been more polite."

Priceless! First, let me thank the gentlemen who kindly spent their time explaining for the kha-zillionth time (just since I joined Lit), how things might go, should go for most. I know you guys get tired of playing parrot for all the newcomers. But it really is appreciated by some. Secondly, lets all say 'thank you' to our very own fairy godsend, Laurel. (The woman is a mystic, I swear.) She's the only person that I can imagine must get more tired than some of you, shaking heads, clicking tongues and still, time and again... rude, thoughtless expectations; never a simple, sincere, "thanks". Well... Thanks again to all of you at Lit for the nice things you do for undeserving people. Take a bow.

Believe you me I have been through the story time and again and there is nothing in it that could possibly be connected with snuff or vore. It’s about a 63 year old woman enticing and fucking two young men and a middle aged man (not all at the same time) and all the men and her enjoying it.

Resubmit it, state that in your Note to the Editor. See how you go.

There were about 30 new stories posted on the Incest Hub today. The biggest I've ever seen. In the last few weeks, there were a few times when there were 20 new stories.

That's the thing about pushing for faster submissions. A lot of stories will get drowned out.

Your math doesn't work. The pace with which stories are approved will have no impact on how many stories get published each day. If the pace is slower, it just means that exactly the same number of stories will get published X number of days later.

For whatever reason, there are still no stories under the OP's ID.

Pending then rejection

My story was only in -ending for a couple of days but then rejected for underage children, because one of the 2 MCs is a single parent with a 10 year old child! This was the first part of a serial story, so I guess the moderators are erring on the side of caution in case the story veered from Romance to something else and the 10 year old might get more than a morning hug or a goodnight kiss. You would’ve thought the moderators would only reject the story at the point where the story actually deviates from normal domesticity into a deviation which breaks the rules.

I’ve now altered the category to Non-erotic and will keep it in drafts until the serial is complete.

Anyone else had problems with MCs who have children?

Most likely a knee-jerk rejection in error. Laurel doesn't have time to read the 60+ stories she approves per day. ( plus who knows how many rejections ) She has to be just skimming and reacting when she sees something. Seeing the age listed for a character not involved in the adult action was probably enough to get the hammer.

Resubmit with a note pointing out that the kid isn't part of the adult action, and it will likely go through if that's truly the case.

I wouldn't change the category over this, either — especially if you plan to use a single category for the entire story. Category hopping almost always leads to even more depreciation than normal fall-off for chaptered stories. Starting a story with the first chapter in an extremely low-read category like Non-Erotic will also handicap you from the beginning.
