Submitted story still under review

My story was only in -ending for a couple of days but then rejected for underage children, because one of the 2 MCs is a single parent with a 10 year old child! This was the first part of a serial story, so I guess the moderators are erring on the side of caution in case the story veered from Romance to something else and the 10 year old might get more than a morning hug or a goodnight kiss. You would’ve thought the moderators would only reject the story at the point where the story actually deviates from normal domesticity into a deviation which breaks the rules.

I’ve now altered the category to Non-erotic and will keep it in drafts until the serial is complete.

Anyone else had problems with MCs who have children?

I have not. My first story and fourth stories were about parents with children. As I said recently on a thread in the feedback forum, about half my stories include underage characters, and none of those stories have been sent back.

It seems like you should be able to explain to Laurel what the child's role is in the story and get it through. Keep in mind that the site may consider it underage sex if a child witnesses a sex act.

Hello!

Stories generally take around 48-72 hours to be posted. If your story has not moved for longer than that, the first thing to do is to check here:
https://www.literotica.com/my/#/works/stories/pending?page=1

If your story is not showing on this page, it means that you have not submitted it to us. Please check here:
https://www.literotica.com/my/#/works/stories/drafts?page=1
If your story is showing at the link above, it means your story is still in Drafts. Please click on the story. Scroll to the bottom and click the PREVIEW button, then click SUBMIT on the next page. Once you've done this, please check your PENDING queue. Your story should show there now.

A Kitty mama sighting! WhoooWaaa!

Sounds like the kids might have been too adjacent to sex, or a phrase may have suggest that. I've had various parents in stories with no issues - kids could see a kiss but no more.

No. My latest story is a breast feeding fetish thing, where the couple meet after a very long time apart - so it starts with one of EB's long café encounters to establish the context. 2000 words with no sex but the baby present; then the child is explicitly stated as being looked after by Gran and in another house, when the couple get together.

Keep the sexual content at least five hundred words away from the child, add a Note to Laurel advising her of the child in the plot but not in the room, and you can have children in your story.

Not to appear smug or owt but..
I posted my latest on Sunday, it was up on the board today.
I cut and pasted my word document into the text box and that was it.

Owt?

After seeing you use the word “owt” I had to check you out. Bristol? No lass, a bit further north I think. The only story I read was the EC one which was different, and funny, and I enjoyed it. What’s the connection with the thread? Absolutely nothing.

Wow, where to start.
1, My character lived in Bristol in 2003, doesn't mean I do or did, you know, kind of like JK Rowling isn't really a witch and EL James isn't really a writer,
2, I've lived in 6 different countries on 3 continents and have picked up words and phrases from all over, for example I still go to a bottle shop not an off licence, I wear thongs on my feet as well as my well rounded and firm bum and I call drop scones pikelets.
3, Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The others feature the same main character and are in a similar style.
4, The connection with the thread is that the thread is about problems getting stories published and I, a relative newbie, managed to get my latest posted and published in two days.
5, I'll give it a go.
6. Happy to take this into PMs if you prefer.

Submit Method

I submitted my first story yesterday. With only one person doing all the reviewing and publishing, I figure it takes as long as it takes. I certainly have no issues with that.

However, I am curious wrt to attaching a word doc vs, cut & paste into email submitted option. It sounds like the preferred method is cut & paste, correct?

Of course, I submitted my story as an attachment yesterday - before I had read this thread!

Over my various accounts I've submitted over 1,400 stories here via cut and paste, with no problems having arisen with that. I haven't tried any other method, because that one has worked for me.

I prefer cut/paste because you can actually review the final product. If you submit it by Word, you can't.

It helps avoids things like a double space between paragphs, or paragraphs attaching together. That can happen on your Doc in between page breaks and not realize it.

The advantage of cut and paste into the text block, is you get a preview in the Lit format, which can be useful to spot format errors you otherwise might not see. Whether it's faster, who knows?

I always cut and paste now, to get the preview - I've saved myself from a couple of dumb formatting goofs (like forgetting to close an html > bracket correctly).

I've submitted all my stories as a Word doc, but I caught my last one just before it went live. Laurel (I assume) had copied the text out of the doc and pasted it into the text block, along with the relevant HTML tags.

Next time I'll do that myself and save her a step.

I went back in and tried this… what a great suggestion! I did see a few errors in the preview and was able to correct them. Thanks so much for the helpful feedback!

Did you submit it as an uploaded file? The one time that I uploaded a file rather than pasting into the HTML editor, it sat in pending for over a week. I resubmitted using the editor and it was up in three days.

Same. I have never had a wait that long when using html editor. Fwiw. Usually 2-3 days.

I wonder if we might need a couple of volunteers to help Laurel? I can't imagine trying to skim every story singlehandedly.
