Trump Got Away With It

Every move was a gamble.

Before he gambled, he ensured that there was an army of corrupt arseholes
to protect him.

"Complicit"

Another stunning revelation about the Trump Justice Department requires answers —
and action

June 11, 2021

THE NEW YORK TIMES reported Thursday that President Donald Trump’s
Justice Department subpoenaed communications records of federal lawmakers
and their families — including those of a minor — in 2017 and 2018

The public is only just learning about the extraordinary aggressiveness with which
the department pursued these investigations, with little apparent regard for the
separation of powers or press freedom...

There is a lot the public does not know.

(Attorney General Merrick B. Garland was officially sworn in as the 86th AG
of the United States on March 11, 2021. "Attorney General Merrick Garland
is not the new William P. Barr — not by a long shot. But the Justice Department is
still fighting transparency and accountability in a way that must delight the former
attorney general, who led the department into the abyss during the Trump
administration.)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...department-is-stop-defending-his-predecessor/

While in office, (AG Bill Barr, Mr. Barr objected to the notion that he helped Mr.
Trump’s friends and hounded the then-president’s enemies. “What enemies have I
(the head of the Department of Justice) indicted?” he asked during 2020 House
testimony. Well, he apparently went after Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.)

Attorney General Merrick Garland should provide further transparency
on these subpoenas.

AG Bill Barr- “I’m supposedly punishing the president’s enemies and helping
his friends,” Barr said. “What enemies have I indicted? Who — could you point
to one indictment that has been under the department that you feel is unmerited?”

CNN’s revelation marks the second time in a week a news outlet has disclosed
its lawyers and executives were under court restrictions preventing them from
revealing legal negotiations over a Justice Department demand for reporters’
records.

On Friday, the New York Times reported that one of its top lawyers and other
executives were subjected to similar restrictions during the Trump administration
as the department pursued email records of four of its journalists.

AG Merrick Garland Explains DOJ Decision to Defend Trump
in Defamation Case

June 10, 2021

Attorney General Merrick Garland is supporting the Justice Department’s decision
to defend former President Trump against a defamation lawsuit brought by a woman
who accused Trump of raping her in the 1990s.

E. Jean Carroll filed the suit in 2019 -
after Trump said he would not have assaulted her because “she’s not my type.”

Justice Department lawyers told a federal court this week Trump cannot be held
personally liable for the comments since he made them while he was president.
Attorney General Garland defended the decision to a Senate committee on
Wednesday.

Attorney General Merrick Garland:
“The essence of the rule of law is what I said when I accepted the nomination
for attorney general. It is that like cases be treated alike, that there not be
one rule for Democrats and another for Republicans, that there not be
one rule for friends and another for foes.”

Remember when Senators and Congress Critters were sent
"white powder" in their mail ?

Many feared that the powder might be poison, or an infecting agent.
(No one feared it was Putin's infamous radioactive murder powder ?)

Dr. Fauci was sent an evelope full of "white powder."

The infectious disease expert and chief of the Covid response across two
administrations related the tale in the forthcoming book “Nightmare Scenario”
by The Washington Post‘s Yasmeen Abutaleb and Damian Paletta, and
Politico Playbook got an early peek:

THAT TIME FAUCI THOUGHT HE MIGHT BE A DEAD MAN —

ANTHONY FAUCI was opening his mail at his desk Aug. 27 when white powder
literally blew up in his face. According to a new book out Tuesday, previewed by
Playbook, Fauci had three thoughts: It was a prank to scare him, anthrax that would
make him seriously ill but which he could probably survive, or ricin — in which case
he was a “dead duck.” Over the next few hours, his team hosed him down to his
skivvies in a chemical lab, making him stand naked in what looked like a kiddy pool
as they awaited the results of tests on the substance. He called his wife to warn her
before breathing a sigh of relief a few hours later when the findings came back
negative for both deadly substances.

How did the adulturated mail make it through the mail "sniffers," and to Dr. Fauci's desk ?

bodysong comment- It is time for news media to stop being cautious!
They are not afraid of getting sued by women that make sexual harrassment
accusations. Why are they so afraid of getting sued by Trump Loyalist
politicians ? Are elections the issue ?

Some television hosts have stopped being tolerant of outright lies.
They cut the microphones, cut off the sound, and turn the cameras off.

The media let America down. News media continue to be burdened with
"both sides," even after Trump lost the election. There should have been
an announcement, by each and every legitimate media and journalism
outlet, that they would cover Trumpland and MAGA country seperately.
Perhaps a newsbite segment- to point out the efforts made, during this
continuing effort tear America apart.

This deep state propaganda is still being spread by Trump Loyalists - the definition
has changed. Deep State, in reality, is our US system of defense against infiltrators
and branches of government that has been corrupted by Trump and his Loyalists.
FFS, Trump ignored the Freedom of the Press, and First Amendment Rights.

After January 6th, everyone is looking over their shoulders, because Trump Loyalists
invited the Looney Lunacy party into the White House.

Glenn Greenwald on Trump and Biden, the Military-Media Complex,
and Why He Thinks MSNBC and CNN Are Worse Than Fox

June 24,2021

- Aidan McLaughlin

“Mainstream media outlets are far too reliant upon and trusting of
the security state agencies that exist in order to deceive and manipulate
the public and to disseminate propaganda and lies."

- Glenn Greenwald

(Greenwald ) thinks those trends were exacerbated by the presidency of Donald Trump,
which prompted networks like CNN and MSNBC, and their viewers, to
embrace members of Trump’s sworn enemy: the deep state.

On top of that, Greenwald argues Trump prompted liberals to memory-hole
the “authoritarianism” of the Bush administration and embrace its cast-offs,
merely because they objected to Trump and the crude incivility of his
White House.

Despite Greenwald’s searing criticism of mainstream media, he is considerably
more tolerant of Fox News, which also happens to be the only cable news network
that invites him on the air. He explains that one reason for his focus on MSNBC
and CNN over Fox News is borne out of a desire to cover things that aren’t
receiving attention from the rest of the press.

It seems that Trump is ready to hand the lease over to someone else, for cash.

It might be real, it might not.

After four years of Trump's abuse of the public trust, it is difficult to see beyond his grift.

NEW: Trump is in advanced talks to sell rights to his Trump International Hotel
in Washington, D.C., sources tell Axios.

Trump had uses for his DC hotel, and not all of them were legal.

Trump's conflicts of interest were glaring and numerous.

In 2013, the General Services Administration leased Washington's historic Post Office
Pavilion to the Trump Organization.

GSA should have terminated the Trump Organization’s lease when Trump "won."

Of the many offenses that Trump misused the grand old 1899 historic building for,
was Trump's business had sent extravagent hotel bills to Trump's government,
and the taxpayer paid them. Once Trump sat in the Oval office chair, he should have
sold the lease. It was part of the lease agreement. Trump corrupted a government office.
before he even began to hold office.

The General Services Administration agreed to the Trump lease, hoping to
save taxpayers millions of dollars. Trump's cash grabs cost the taxpayer millions.

Trump's promise from 2016: Trump’s pledged that he would “completely isolate”
himself from his business once in office, and put his voters’ interests above his own.

That turned out to be a lie - The Vast Right Wing conspiracy cannibalized their own
nation to fuel a competing system,
with a war-chest, to fund the death of Democracy.

Trump has been running a drug and prostitution ring out of that hotel for years and openly flaunting it in the faces of law enforcement. It’s also where he planned and coordinated his big insurrection. There’s a furnace in the basement where he burns illegal immigrants and tax documents. Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are aware of all of this yet they’re letting him get away with it.
