Republican asks if 'BLM or the forest service' can change the orbit of the moon to fight climate change

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) had an interesting inquiry about climate change at a House Natural Resources Committee hearing— and it involved changing the orbit of the moon or earth to combat it.

This all bullshit, Gomert was being facetious. He was gigging her for having dumb notions about being able to change the climate when things like the orbit of the Moon was part of the problem. Another left wing media smear of a Republican who's twice as smart as they are.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Louie Gohmert isn't twice as smart as a dead armadillo.

He's twice as smart as you are. He's got a degree in history, a law degree from Baylor University Law School, He was a member of the US Army JAG Corps, he's been a Texas District Court judge and was appointed Chief Justice on the Texas Court of Appeals. Don't let your bigotry against down home drawls fool you.

Obama has even more impressive qualifications -- so you admit he's smart?

and your ELK talk COW FARTS so fuck off

Obama has even more impressive qualifications -- so you admit he's smart?

No he didn't. Unless you want to believe the phony BS about him being a constitutional law professor at Harvard, that caused him to lose almost every case he brought to the SCOTUS. He was nothing without his teleprompter. He was promoted by Bill Ayers, a terrorist, both his parents were Communists, as was his mentor, Frank Marshall Davis. He was all about bringing down America as we know it and shifting the nation's wealth to the Third World, which was the dream of his father. He eclipsed Jimmy Carter as the most useless son of a bitch to ever sit behind the Resolute desk.

No he didn't. Unless you want to believe the phony BS about him being a constitutional law professor at Harvard . . .

He was a con-law prof, at U. of Chicago, not Harvard; Harvard was where he went to law school.

He was nothing without his teleprompter.

And that's for sure a damned lie.

He was all about bringing down America as we know it and shifting the nation's wealth to the Third World, which was the dream of his father.

RWs talked that talk throughout his Admin, but nothing ever came of it, so why are you still beating that drum?!

He eclipsed Jimmy Carter as the most useless son of a bitch to ever sit behind the Resolute desk.

He was certainly an improvement on W, and Trump was anything but an improvement on Obama. Things in general went better under his Admin than before or after.

Nothing ever came of it because the Congress wasn't as pro-commuist and stupid as he was.

BS and outright ignorance. make sure you read it:

It’s time to face facts: Obama’s presidency was a failure

Once again, how? I've heard climate change deniers blame solar cycles or something, but bringing the Moon into it is new to me.

See, e.g.:

Global warming has more to do with the Sun than the Earth

Changes in the Sun have not been responsible for recent climatic trends; there has not been any significant change in the total energy output of the sun since we have started measuring it, and no changes in the sun or sun phenomena correlate with increased temperatures.[85] Over the last 35 years the sun has shown a cooling trend, meanwhile global temperatures continue to rise.[86]

One thing that can change is small perturbations in the orbit of the Earth that draw the planet closer to or further from the sun. These perturbations might be linked to the start of several of the major climate changes in the geologic history of the Earth. Nonetheless, the actual change in temperature due to these orbital changes is small and the large-scale changes are due to feedback loops localized to Earth pushing things in one direction or another.

There is no evidence that such an orbital shift is happening now, but even if it has, it can only explain a very small percentage of the increase in global temperature. This issue was also a point of contention in the Soon and Baliunas controversy.

But nothing about the Moon even alleged to have been alleged. It's hard to see how that would work anyway -- what does lunar radiation matter?!

Yeah, Vette is right, it's bullshit. Dude was obviously being a sarcastic ass. Don't make him less of a fuckwit tho. Does make MSN look really dumb.

BA in History - that's nice, but hardly makes him smarter.
JD from Baylor - that's okay - there are worse law schools in Texas and there are better. I'd be more impressed if he graduated at the top of his class or got the top score on the bar exam.
US Army JAG Corp. - did his four year tour in the steaming jungles of Fort Benning, Georgia - He gets credit for never going into harms way.
Texas District Judge - In East Texas FFS - they elect morons all the time - hardly an indicator of above average IQ.
Appointed by his Aggie buddy Rick Perry, himself not the sharpest knife in the drawer, to fill a six month vacancy in an East Texas Appellate District is no indication of Gohmert's intelligence.

Gohmert has proved repeatedly by comment and action that he is probably actually one of the dumbest people in congress. Dumb enough to almost get himself killed by a virus because he did stupid things.

But who am I to judge? He should go back to East Texas and raise chickens, but even then he would not be any wiser than his flock.

C'mon. You're better than this. The affects of the moon on Earth's climate are trivial on the time scale of anthropogenic climate change.

I don't know what the exact effect is, do you? I'm just not ready to reject all possibilities in order to mischaracterize the comments of a political enemy.

Can we agree the Moon stabilizes the axis of the Earth? If so, we can conclude if the orbit of the moon were to change at some time in the future and the axis of the Earth is affected, or changed, the seasons in earth might change. At least it would seem to me, but I don't know.

Gomer is the dumbest member of Congress.

Constituents voting him in is the laziest effort in the last 20 years for them.

Nobody is dumber than AOC, Maxine Waters, and the other dipshit who thought Guam might capsize if we added more troops there.

Gomer is dumber, by far.

To the boring, worthless, racist dullard (notice he named all women of color), any politician to the left of Jesse Helms is considered "dumb".
A Trumper has no business calling people, "dumb".

Ah yes, just like Dumbya and Dan Quayle, every time he says something beyond-the-pale stupid, just say he was joking. Hey, I've got to admit it worked before.
