Without Manchin, WVa would be red and Republicans would have the Senate.

They could easily take out some of that bill and find one Manchin would support, imo. Just focus on gerrymandering reform, automatic voter registration, voter roll removal regulations and state election funding. (probably one or two more)

I don't support getting rid of the filibuster.

What I don't get about Manchin's opposition to HR 1 is that it isn't based in any way on the substance of the legislation. His entire reasoning for being against it is "all the Republicans are against it, so that makes it a partisan bill."

Meanwhile, the number of Republicans in the Senate who would ever be against anything Mitch McConnell wants on the grounds of unanimous Democratic opposition is exactly zero. Which is fine; nothing wrong with the majority getting its way.

Unless you're Manchin, I guess.

It's a waste of time. The bill would never survive a constitutional challenge. This is why we get the government we deserve. They keep the masses busy with things they really have no intentions of passing and they know will never hold up in court.
