Hey Folks --

I'm about to upload for publication a new story and as far as category goes it is "one of those."

There is consensual MF intercourse, BJs and cunnilingus, a minor bit of water sports, voyeurism, a hetro MMF threeway, and finally non-con anal. The title BTW is about this act.)

You can see why I'm confused. I started writing it as a non-con, but the characters took me down different paths to most of the sexual menu and my category dilemma.

I appreciate any thoughts and guidance you might have on this. Thanks in advance.

If you can play up the humiliation parts in some of the others pieces (and depending on how rough the anal noncon is), I’d keep it in noncon and have the ending be something like the cumulative effect.

But I’m biased because I like writing in that category.

Probably Erotic Couplings would cover most of this. You've got pieces of other categories in there but none of them seems to dominate (no pun intended) the plot.

My guess is non-con trumps the rest, but that could just be me being content to read the rest of it. Who knows about the rest of the weirdos round here?

A one-line teaser might help steer readers to or from the story. If the non-con were toned down then Erotic Couplings or Fetish could work?

If the threesome is het only, mfm rather than mmf might attract the right readers - mmf implies mm action IME.

Agreed. Perhaps ‘DP’ or ‘spit-roasting’ might be a clearer tag.

But stories go where they want.

Neither "DP" nor "spit roast" appears in the tag cloud for Noncon/Reluctance but both appear in the tag cloud for Group."mfm" is fairly common in Group, but "mmf" is one of the most common tags, they say. "mmf" also occurs in Noncon, but mfm doesn't.

The clouds are how other authors have tagged their contest, not what readers search for, but the way things are set up, if readers want to search tags effectively they should probably use the tag cloud.

Submit it where you think it fits best, but keep in mind Laurel might move it where she thinks it will run better, or add her own editorial content note.

I don't think there's such a thing as hetero MMF (or MFM, for that matter). I think that's just wishful denial--and readers here don't seem to be fooled by it. If a guy can get it up for and complete either an MMF or an MFM, I say he's bi, not hetero. And that's just fine.

From your list, depending on just how prominent this "hetero" MMF is in the story, I'd suggest the Fetish category.

KD -- I always appreciate your thoughts and comments on these threads, but I do not agree with you on the myth of the MFM. I do believe in a 100% hetero threeway with two guys and a girl.-- and in my younger days participated in a few.

What in my day was known simply as "I fucked her as she blew him," to my son's generation "London Bridge" to what is now called "split roasting" (not my favorite term) there is a lot to be said for how hot the old fashioned menage a trois can be.

DPs? Probably on the border landing someplace in the neighborhood of watching porn and a mutual JO.

For example from real life, when I was younger I loved "same room sex." Two couples doing it next to each other, but without swapping. Live porn theater right next to you. I've been in situations where one of the women invited the other guy to join for a 2nd orifice while his partner watched and even a few times with no MM interplay or even crossing swords.

Different strokes for different folks.

You got it up? You experienced a release with another guy in the action? Welcome to the ranks of the bi. I think that's what most of us, male and female, are. Bi. It's a sunny world here. No dark shadows. Welcome. :)

Since this is a "what category?" thread, I'll note that observation of categorizing stories here has indicated to me that there are a lot of readers who believe that if your male character can get it up and release with another guy in the action, he and your story are at least bi, if not gay.

That a lot of readers believe that, I'll completely agree with you on.

But another guy in the room != another guy in the action. Not necessarily. Two guys can be naked in the same room without it being gay (locker rooms etc) so adding a naked woman shouldn't necessarily make a difference. Loads of straight male swingers manage to compartmentalise their interest in what they see before them.

I suspect the straight men confident enough in their own sexuality to have a mfm encounter are way fewer than those who would be hoping for or at least thinking about making it mmf. And that even more of the women would be hoping for it to turn mmf...

It's quite amusing what folks will accept that women can do without evoking a gag factor that men can't do. Sorry, folks, sex is sex is sex. You don't have to believe that just about everyone is bi in the face of opportunity, but I do. I gave up that wishful thinking in my late twenties--given opportunities. :)

You've raised a very provocative issue. I don't agree at all! MMF can be completely, 100% hetero, in terms of erotica and fantasy. I've never actually done it in real life, so my perspective is based purely on reading/viewing. But from a hetero standpoint, the focus is on the woman, being serviced by two men at the same time. That focus isn't bi/gay at all.

Which is NOT to say that there aren't people out there who DO enjoy MMF from a gay or bi standpoint. I can get that, too. But I'm surprised at your comment, because you usually take a very liberal point of view regarding the range of kinky points of view out there. You shouldn't exclude the possibility of hetero perspectives on MMF.

Put that in a Lit. story and submit it to any category but GM and let's see how the comments go.

And I'm surprised you don't think my "just about everyone is bi given the opportunities" stance is a liberal point of view.

A challenge! I will do that.

You like empirical evidence.

Compare the reaction between the first and second chapters of a series, followed by the bounce back on chapter 3 (in terms of Views):

My conclusion: readers were spooked by the plural "men" in the second chapter's sub-title and didn't even open the first page, for fear of a straying cock.

Never underestimate the dread of 'the real men of Lit' thinking, "Oh my god, I might be gay," if they even glance at another bloke's todger!
