I really outdid myself. Fourteen song titles, six or so pop culture references and a host of authors and movie makers for street names. Story title is "Rotten to the Core", referencing multiple layers of corruption in the city its happening in. I'll probably get flack for a rushed ending, gratuituous violence, male/male sex and a few other triggers, but I'm happy I even made it across the finish line.

So, do you know the sequence in the movie Heavy Metal where the quiet, nerdy kid gets the Loc-Nar and in the end it can’t corrupt him? And the entire sequence is heavily reminiscent of John Norman’s Gor and has another planet that’s a lot of Robert E. Howard barbarians?

Well, that was the original inspiration and then it got away from me when I went back to read some of those old science fiction stories. And then, because I have no discipline as a writer, it sent me on a couple of side projects set in modern day. One of them will be finished soon. I don’t know which one, but I think it’s the side project distraction haha .

So, barbarian, but Eldritch Horror could be added!

I'm now imagining that "Den" story done in the style of a modern "isekai" anime -- I mean, it is a guy who gets transported to another world, where he becomes sexy and powerful in ways he definitely wasn't back on Earth, after all.
