They were trying to overturn an election, overturn the popular vote and oust the winner, and install a puppet dictator who refused to step down after losing said election. And they violently invaded the capital, threatened sitting elected members of congress with violence and hanging.

That, by definition, is an insurrection.

And when you commit an insurrection against the United States government, you are committing treason.

In many countries, that, right there, is a capital offense. In the US, those involved, including especially the man at the top who instigated it, ought to at least be held accountable, with prison time at the very least, if not capital punishment.

non the less, I'll acquiesce to your request. I'll be serious. So I'll start with your insistence that the January 6th incursion into the capitol wasn't an insurrection because they carried no firearms.

According to the Cambridge dictionary, an insurrection is defined as follows:

No mention of guns there but let's look at the entirety of the definition.

Was it an organized attempt?

I'd say after watching the videos of it it was organized. Not as well organized as it could have been, but organized non the less.

Was it an attempt to defeat the government?

Since almost every one of those that were involved admitted they wanted to return the donald to the presidency because you know "fake election" I'd say this is true.

Was it violent?

With the destruction they wrought and the stated aim of hanging politicians (even one of their own) again it's true.

So my dear sir it appears that you have expounded that which you either know nothing about or don't have the cognitive clarity and acuity to discuss. Once again you have gone off half-cocked and shot yourself in the foot.

Considering there has been no independent investigation into the insurrection, and the level of infilrtation into the Capitol security forces by the traitor in chief's loyalists is unknown, there is no way of knowing how close American democracy came to being destroyed on January 6th.

There was enough concern about the traitor in chief's loyalists infesting the secret service that several were taken off President Biden's security detail.

There is also concern about a large white supremacist presence in the military and law enforcement agencies.

Who doubts that if the insurrectionists had succeeded in capturing or killing members of congress and destroying the official ballots, the traitor in chief would have declared martial law, nullified the election results, and called on the military to enforce the traitor in chief's orders.
