Peter Cahill the judge in the recently completed trial in Minneapolis has given Americans good reason to breath a sigh of relief in his conduct of this matter. In a system which relies on the effective functioning of three elements, the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary this man has shown exemplary conduct, skill and discipline in his judicial duties.

He allowed a very open public hearing but ran a tight ship with a disciplined approach required from both prosecution and defence. His summing up and instructions to the Jury were spot on. Finally, while he noted the ill considered comments of Rep Waters and the public announcement of the civil settlement with Floyd's family, he did not allow them to become distractions.

Maybe all sides to the issue, whether they like the outcome or not, should say a big thank you to Judge Cahill? He has done far more to preserve the institutional norms and constitutional rights of all the parties than the legions of pundits and politicians endlessly pontificating.

I admired the fact that he characterized that dummy Maxine Watters comments as "abhorrent". I liked how he called into question her commitment to her oath to The Constitution.

"Abhorrent", LOL. Pure Gold, Judge. That's gonna stick, LOL.

Trumpian, even. Something Ramona would do. :D

(Yeah, I think she should have just kept her mouth shut on the issue--sort like I think about you a lot.)
