As for the rest, people will disagree. Guns have been a background part of many families for generations, and for you to change that, it has to be gradual and convincing.

The grouping of everyone who participates in the U.S. gun culture (the overwhelming majority law-biding citizens) as being in the realm of fascist pigs and criminals is more a byproduct of this Utopia you imagine, a civilized country as you see it, without taking into account tens of millions don't see it that way at all.

One cannot discount hunting either, as politicians have made veiled reference to 'sniper-style weapons', which refers to the bolt-action rifle.

It always seems like once it starts happening a little, then other people get the idea for themselves and then we see it more. There always seems to be a spike in this kind of violence once the idea of it gets out there for other people to think this is the only way they can do things based on whatever is going on in their lives.

Eventually it settles down for a while until it happens again, and it will keep happening until more can be done to prevent these individuals from doing these terrible acts of violence.
