It's (the Wuhan Flu) not going away......ever.

Yes folks, the Wuhan Flu is here to stay.

The variants are spreading like wildfire, the Brazil variant being the one of most concern. As a comment on that I'm wondering if the Brazilian variety spread from Brazil or is a natural consequence of the virus mutating along natural selection lines. Meaning that the variant didn't spread from Brazil but is spontaneously mutating as viruses are want to do.

Another study has shown that these mutations are occurring among the young, those that heretofore have been relatively unaffected by the virus. Further evidence of this is in the fact that the new variants are hitting the younger population the hardest. That appears to follow the pattern that the "Spanish Flu" of 1918 followed. Further, it makes perfect sense that the mutations would be occurring in those with the most robust immune systems. Only the mutations would manage to survive and spread. What better media to promote 'success?'

I stated when this first started that it wasn't going to go away. While everyone is focused on the disease it is the various responses to the disease that should be of greater concern.

Trump is gone....its covid now...cripes

Then way not just call it the Covid?

Easy answer. Until such time that it is proven beyond any reasonable doubt it is my contention that the disease came out of that virology lab in Wuhan. No, I don't believe it's man made and I don't necessarily believe it was purposeful.

The Chinese are sloppy, they take short cuts. They also are very short on truth and transparency. These traits are common to the Communist Chinese. I had no such problems with the Taiwanese or the people I dealt with in Hong Kong.

Once again Zumi pulls shit out of his ass. Wuhan is a place name, not a family name or a race.

Wuhan residents don’t deserve having this flu named after them.

Wrongfully naming the cold after the rapper Common, also unfair.

I had the virus, almost a year ago, I’ve had the vaccine, Pfizer, both parts 1 & 2. Yet I still have to wear a fucking mask?!? WTF?

Virtue signaling to those whom have pirated the culture
because they know best how to manage everyone else's lives.

At this point, using Wuhan in the name is just a convenient way to identify corrupt minded trump cult members.

It's not like when we condemn all Germans (or the Spanish)...

It could have been called the Chinese Flu.

It did come from Wuhan and
the Chinese and the WHO
abdicated responsibility.

It made it worse.

Agreed re: the outdated nomenclature.

All the more reason not to politicize a disease but to focus on treatment and prevention.

The Left is dedicated to the proposition that no crises should go to waste.

Some of us see something that has to be combatted while
the others alluded to see the opportunity to combat us...

Coronavirus has become their tool;
the mash has become their symbol.

Sorry, dont know what c16 is.

Naming diseases after places is outdated.

But if you want to run a branding exercise for covid, knock yourself out... i’m just pointing out it labels you as a nutjob to the intelligent minority.

According to who? Going to go back and rename all the legacy diseases? If not, why not? God knows the PC crowd has made it a point to relabel damn near everything else.

Who said anyone was going back and renaming diseases?

The WHO made a policy to start to use generic names.

No. Covid will never go away, like normal influenza. But like flu, inoculation will reduce its spread and deadliness once the whole world has had a large percentage of the population jabbed.

The various jabs provide a high degree of protection, not just against infections, but reduce the seriousness of the disease to those who catch it.

Treatments for Covid are improving all the time. The more we know, the more we can make it no more than a nuisance instead of a killer.

The incidence of influenza this winter had been drastically reduced by the precautions taken against Covid.
