rejected story favorited?

I submitted a story a week or so ago and recently went to check on how it was doing. I got a message it was rejected and the story text in the box that was returned to me was a completely different story than the file I uploaded. What makes matters more confusing is that over a dozen people marked the story as a favorite prior to it vanishing to rejected status. Anyone have something like this happen?

No, I haven't. Contact the submissions editor, Laurel, directly via Private Message (upper right on this page, if you have PMs turned on--upper left, "User CP"). That's the only way you'll get this resolved.

It sounds like the story might have been reported by a reader as violating some site rule. That hasn't happened to me, but my understanding is that the author may not be advised when it happens.

Getting the wrong story back is baffling. Laurel is the only one who can sort things out.

Before posting here I resubmitted the story, this time with the entire story in the textbox instead of as a file and a note saying there was a completely different story in the textbox.
