Is there an issue with the views counter?

Looking at the Hubs for the last two days, none of the stories have over a 1,000 views. Even if you click on a story, the views are below 1,000.

Does the public views counting have an issue or did permanently switching to the new layout scare people away?

UPDATE from Lit:

https://twitter.com/literotica/status/1374032301097508865

The "Add to Favorites" bug on user profiles should be fixed now. We are still working on the Reads and Votes issues related to the new Story Page. Please keep sending us reports of any other issues you encounter. Thank you!

There's an acknowledged bug where the newly defaulted pages don't increment the view counter. It's being worked on.

All the views you're getting are from the people who have opted-out to read through the legacy pages.

Oh, that makes.

Lit made an announcement the other day on Twitter that some people couldn't see anything on the main page or something. That it was being worked on.

Interesting, because views on my new story suddenly just...stopped. I put it down to it falling off the New list, bit 1 view in 2 days?

Hey, when you’re a star, nothin’s too good for you! ;)

Manu is aware of the problems. Hopefully they’ll get sorted out soon.

Earlier I had 50 votes from 20 views, so something's wrong... I know the counters get synched at different times but that struck me as quite odd.

Glad it’s not just me. My April Fools story also stopped recording views and votes.

I’m a bit worried because the score was pretty good, but the vote tally is 23. :(

Not placing because of a glitch would be a real bummer.

Where’s the best place to report it?

The problem definitely is NOT that views have stopped because of the new layout. Views continue apace. I know that because my comments and favorites and followers continue to grow at the same pace as before. That would not be possible but for people continuing to click on stories just as they did before. So we don't need to worry about that. Literotica readers continue to read stories, just as before.

The problem is that for whatever reason the Site is failing to record and report views as before. I have no idea why.

Votes Bug

I'm wondering how this is going to impact the "Valentine's Day" results. In the last two days both my votes and my score has gone down.

If those are the results that are used it doesn't seem fair.

I'm not sure "fair" is the right term to use, because, number 1, the contest is long over, and number 2, it's happening to everyone. It's weird, and it's understandable that we're all confused, but no one person, I think, is being treated unfairly.

If you are referring instead to the April Fool's event, I wonder about that, too, because I'm still working on a story and thinking about trying to get it in before tomorrow's deadline, but I'm not sure whether to do it when all this is going on.

And that's a problem for LAHomeDog and others who have entries in the AF competition (I'm assuming VD was a typo). Are votes/views being recorded in the back end, but not displayed to us? Or are people voting but not being recorded?

As LAH said - it's not fair if people are penalised because the site broke.

Days ago, the the New Layout became the default setting. That could have done something to accidentally mess up the views counter.

I know people are upset about the views, but use the perspective of its better than if it were votes or comments, especially with a contest winding down

You're right, if that's what he's referring to, and he probably is. I'm in the same boat, because I'm scrambling to finish a story for the AF contest but I don't know if I should if the vote-counting is all screwed up. And if the views don't show up on the lists then my story won't get the exposure I want it to and it will drop off the new story list before it shows as getting any views. So I might be better off skipping the contest and submitting the story after all this has blown over. I'm just not sure.

I notice there are little new stories today and no contest stories.

It could be that there were no contest stories submitted, or maybe they're being held.

I think the fact that the error was adressed should mean that the issue will be fixed soon. I'm prepping 2 stories for the contest regardless.

Hey, thanks, Hey All

In my case, I have an AF story that had 1,100 ratings (!), and over the last couple of days the number of ratings has fallen by over 300. Also, my score has fallen from 4.61 to 4.56, although it then rose to 4.57. I'll never win anything with a score like that, but still...I like having a good score. My 88 favorites remained, and my 25 comments remain; it's just the scores that are screwed up! I tried to contact the Lit Gods, but since I don't live on Mount Olympus, I've received no reply. So I was pleased to read Hey All's text exchange. Good luck, everyone! ~~ JB Edwards

I suspect the vote counter is also screwed. Nothing's budged on my story for two days, except one comment added. And it was still sitting on the front page of the romance new story list until yesterday.

There is also a glitch--apparently related to the new story page--that affects votes. We've seen votes removed from stories on a regular basis since last July and chalked it up to some kind of new sweep method or policy. The vote removals jumped on Friday when they made the new story page the default view. Some people report hundreds of votes lost on individual stories and thousands in aggregate.

The evidence for vote loss is all from older stories, as far as I know, but I expect that it works on new stories just as much. It's never been evident before because votes come in quickly on new stories and the vote removals weren't large enough to show up until Friday (in the US).

Whatever the vote glitch is, it seems very erratic, and that could make it hard to identify and fix. They're working on it.

My bad. I meant the "April Fool's Day" contest that my story has been up and published for a few weeks.

It regarding that where the vote total is going down along with the score.

Just curious, but has anyone PM'd Laurel to let her know about the problems? Laurel and Manu might not talk work over dinner. If the problems are affecting the contest results, then she should be told.

It has been raised on the Lit Tech support forum.

Laurel is not on the tech side of the site. Tech side is Manu. Laurel runs the front end, and they don't necessarily coordinate.

I don't have a horse in the race right now. Someone who does might want to PM her.

How does someone PM Laurel?

Sure, but how does one PM her? I've never been able to figure that out! ~~ JB
