Is Dalton Abbey where the Dalton gang holed up when they visited France???

I'm sure some of the UK writers could do a version of Downton Abbey...

"Downtown on Abby"? :D

Ya know when your phone changes a word for you? Well, in this case it was my fingers.

I'll make the evening coffee early to make up for it.

Spaghetti for supper. :)

I think you're getting the southern end of the storm system that's dropped 18" of snow on my roof so far.

I brought Bailey's to add to the coffee. Later we'll sing Christmas carols. Little else to do, snowed in as we are. But at least we have heat, electricity, and water, so our blizzard is a sleigh ride compared to what Texas went through recently.

All we're getting out of it is wind and clouds. I think the mountains have been getting snow. I can't really tell, because when the Weather Service had to replace their old Flash-animated presentation they replaced it with something that's thoroughly broken.

The test of my tolerance for Daylight Savings Time comes in the morning. I'll need to get up in the dark, and it'll be like December all over again.

If you go to work, everything will be fine until you get home and wonder what you're going to do with all that extra daylight. ;)

That's the part of DST I like!

I didn't uncover the grill yesterday like I thought I might. The cover would have blown away.

The official tally of 27" (0.7m) at the Denver airport is close enough for me to not bother wading out front to take my own measurement. Some in the state are without power, but we're lucky here. I'm torn between starting to dig out and another shot of Bailey's in my coffee. Spouse has a vaccine appointment tomorrow so I guess we better dig out.

What a mess!

I'd love to have that here, but spread out to about 4" a week.

Good morning! I’ll grab a cup, light and sweet, and curl into a booth in the corner.

Welcome to the cafe. Like NW said, we're 24/7 and there is usually someone around here with sense enough to make the coffee. I started the place so I usually do it unless I oversleep or get distracted or something.

Oh yeah, the morning coffee is ready so come and get it.

Tomorrow is second jab day for me and the ladies.

I love DST, and have been looking forward to it for weeks.

It means I can (hopefully) stop working around 5:00 or 5:30, and still spend time outside - going for a run or a ride, grilling on my deck, or just sipping on a G&T and watching the sun go down.

Ouch!

Thank you. Coffee hit the spot this morning, especially after the shorter night. :)

Rather you than me. . . . . :)

Are the 'second jabs' done by age or what ?
I don't believe you're that old, Tex.

But it's time for a Mug of Tea.

The first jabs are done by age and health. The second jab is scheduled so many days later. Category 1A was nursing home residents and first responders, as well as hospital staff. 1B, which includes me, is 65 and older with medical conditions. We are close to 2A, which is everyone 50 and older.

I'm 74 and have type 2 diabetes. The ladies are over 65 and live with me.

I'll leave the tea to you and I'll make the evening coffee.

Supper was Red Snapper. A friend had extra and dropped some off. :)

I have just a few paragraphs left to close out chapter eleven of "A Valentine's Day Mess," and the words aren't coming to me. In the mean time, I put together the notes for the final chapter (twelve). I'm really tempted to post the notes and call it done, but I doubt the one or two readers who get that far will appreciate that very much.

I already have one story all but ready that is waiting until "Mess" is complete, another one with notes that expand daily, and a third with notes that could probably be ready in a few weeks after "Mess."

Finishing off a five-year-old series that I'm not feeling any more has been really hard.

What isn't hard? My wife's shift starts early tonight, so I make my own dinner. It's shrimp and cheese grits for me, along with a chopped Caesar salad--appropriate for the Ides of March, right?

That's exactly what I don't like about it, too. Only I don't much care about the "extra" daylight after work. Personally, I wish they'd just stick to one or the other all year. It's the jumping around that gets me. Plus, since they changed the dates in 2007, we're in "savings" time almost 8 months...

Wow! We've had pretty mild winters here the past couple of years and I'm grateful. I saw some footage of people diggin out their cars. I hope you're able to get cleaned out without too much strain. And that you have plenty of Bailey's left for a reward when you're done.

HP, the BioNTech and Moderna vaccine are both mRNA based vaccines, and it was determined that a single shot provoked a relatively weak immune reaction. The mRNA in the two-dose vaccines provides the cells of your body with instructions on how to make the spike protein that’s specific to the COVID-19 coronavirus. This spike protein is found on the surface of the virus. It uses this spike protein to attach to and enter a host cell in your body.

When you get your COVID-19 vaccine, your immune system processes information on the spike protein and stimulates an immune response to it. This includes the production of antibodies. The second dose works to greatly enhance the immune response kicked off by the first dose.

Vaccines rely on a very important aspect of your immune system, which is the fact that it has memory. After vaccination, the immune system continues to 'remember' and store information on the spike protein specific to COVID-19, so once the immunity process has matured the immune system will then use this information stored in its memory and respond to protect you from the virus if you're ever exposed to it.

The entire immunization process usually takes a couple weeks, sometimes a little longer, times vary between individuals, driven by factors such as age, general health, pre-existing conditions etc. after the second dose of vaccine, which is why you can still contract coronavirus if you’re exposed to it shortly after getting your vaccine, so once you've had the jab, keep shielding for at least 2 weeks if you're in one of the groups identified as having a particular vulnerability.

Lori, I'm getting the moderna vaccine. The first dose boost your immune system to about 65% against covid. 28 days later, you take the second dose that kicks things up into the 95% range. You still need to wait about two weeks before it is fully integrated.

The CDC still says to mask in crowds or better yet, keep avoiding them all together. Small groups are okay. Even though our idiot governor has dropped the mask mandate. I won't be leaving home without it even though I'm fully vaccinated.

ETA: my county has about 42k peoples over the age of sixteen. 7500 have had at least one shot. 4100 have had both.

I would still shield as much as you can post vaccination; you're 74, and D2 so you're vulnerable, it's not me being smart, it's a fact of this cursed plague; you'll still be vulnerable until at least 2 weeks have lapsed after your 2nd dose, so please, shield, for me.

I know about the 2 week thing and I'm way ahead of you. I don't go out more than I have too, believe me.

I had the second shot two weeks ago; most of the stores I need to visit still require masks, regardless of what the Guv did. Like Tx, I am in the 'age' group although I don't (so far as I am aware of) have any major health issues. Therefore, I will continue to 'mask up' for many, many more weeks. (I suspect I am possibly the oldest person that posts in this thread; I am older than Tx.)

Hey, I'm not old. I just have high mileage. ;)

The midnight coffee won't help your age but it will keep you awake and humming along.

I'm headed for bed. The ladies are already there. We have a few errands to run before jab time.
