How Do I Follow A Writerr

OK, I have apparently lost my ability to figure things out during this pandemic...

Since I have now become clueless: How do I "follow" another author?

I searched all over the site and even Googled it, but to no avail. Thank you in advance for the help.

There are three links at the bottom of each story below the voting stars. The last one is "Follow Author." There might be other ways, as well.

Okay, I know it's late but the evening coffee is ready.

Nice. I'll pour a cup in celebration of landing a vaccine just before the snowstorm. As they stuck the needle in my arm, I just couldn't resist humming Heroin by the Velvet Underground.

NW, I'm glad you're still with us. Those May snowstorms are a destructive and unpleasant surprise. Next time, treat yourself to a more scenic tour; I recommend highway 287 between Fort Collins and Laramie, Wyoming; so picturesque that Rand McNally adorns the route with a parallel line of dots.

Current weather: No snow yet, but the Wicked Witch of the West just wrote a message in the sky: "Surrender Dorothy," she said. and then: "P.S. Buy bread and milk."

Thanks. I'll keep 287 in mind. The most direct route for me would be to go up through Alamosa, through Poncha Pass to Salida, then north through Leadville and Vail, through RMNP and connect to 287 near Loveland. I get no thrills from driving through Denver. For me, the Crestone Range above Great Sand Dune, the Ivy League Range and Mount Elbert are all way better.

Given time, I wouldn't mind going through Laramie, but my target is Rapid City.

Good luck with the storm. We're getting the south edge of something this weekend. It's probably the same storm. If we get any moisture, then it will be a blessing.

Did the one doing the jab recognize the music? Was there any effect other than possible a sore arm muscle?

Inquiring minds and all that.

I'm supposed to get my second on Tuesday.

I googled/ UTubed the Velvet underground. It reminded me of Leonard Cohen.
(sorry !)

My 2nd jab is scheduled for the end of April; if they remember. . . . .

It was a cold & draughty night; I have now fixed the bedroom window.
One bit of good news; my water bill is less than last years, but about $10.
A year of riotous living now seems possble.

But it's time for my coffee.

HP, I have a feeling, you're not as riotous as you used to be. :D

The morning coffee is ready for consumption.

I'm thinking Cheerios for breakfast. Not enough oats in my diet.

Nothing to report yet on our winter storm, though the clouds look even more threatening than yesterday.

Plenty of amazing scenery near Rapid City too.

I'm pretty sure the one doing the jab was the drummer. At least that's how it felt. No effects other than some immunity. Mine was the J&J - one and done. Hope your second goes well.

I'll take that last cup of coffee and start a new pot.

M’lady and I have our initial jabs scheduled for April Fool’s Day. I’ll admit to being a little concerned about the timing.

Today has been a non-writing day, but it's not like I didn't try (a little).

Tomorrow will be better. I'm so close to the end I can smell it (eew!), but it's hard to write.

Coffee and Covid

Recently I acted as executor for a deceased person. He left a clear will dealing with his major assets but said his siblings, both 75+ and his niece 25 the only child of his much younger deceased half brother could divide his household and personal effects however they chose. I suspect he thought a spirited argument would occur (which he would have enjoyed) but he was wrong. His siblings took a couple of mementos but then said the youngster could have everything else.

She was in for a shock when it came to clearing out the kitchen. In the larder were 31 unopened 1Kg packets of Coffee beans. How so? Apparently the supermarket during Covid extended their delivery service, prioritizing the elderly and rang every week to ask for his order. "Same as last week," was the invariable reply. The coffee was not the only thing oversupplied but definitely the most obvious.

Two results: first, the young woman's stock she tells me, has risen markedly with the quality of the coffee in the University common room where she is a very junior academic. Secondly she is even more appreciated at the homeless shelter where she volunteers doing meals one day a week. Apparently even folks with nothing appreciate a decent coffee.

An aside: NSW had its first local case of Covid today in 55 days, a worker in a quarantine hotel. It appears that all the contacts were traced and tested and isolated within about 30 hours. We are fortunate .

You could be right Tex. I blame it on the 'Lock-down' rules.
But the coffee is more than welcome.

Inuk the Newfie pup's still slinking around the house and feeling sorry for himself after getting a hoof in his bottom that bowled him across the manège. He's OK, though, he was X-Rayed and no damage found, just a bruised ego and an object lesson in how to behave around horses. I parted through his fur and took a look, and sure enough, he's got a perfect horseshoe-shaped bruise on his ass, which he of course is milking for all the sympathy he can get. He's lucky the horses were still shod with manège plastic shoes, a slam from an iron-shod hoof could have killed him.

He's getting too heavy for me to pick up and cuddle now, and he's starting to look like a little fuzzy black bear; he's a tad over 45 pounds now, about average weight for a 3-month old Newfie, so his weight and his sore bottom means he can't climb on the couch, which Will hates anyway ('furniture's for humans, and dogs live on the floor' is his motto), so he's learning to lie on the floor and look decorative, like the other 4 dogs have to do. His daddy is a hefty 190 pounds and stands 31 inches at the shoulder, coal-black just like Inuk, and it looks like Inuk might attain a similar height and weight.

He’s going to be a big boy. I thought our Great Dane/Labrador cross at 55kg was a big dog.

His daddy is gigantic; Will's over six feet, and when Cayuga stands on his hind legs and put his paws on Will's shoulders Will is looking up at him, but he's one of those placid, unflappable dogs, Will loves rolling around with him, it looks like he's wrestling a black bear. Inuk seems to have his temperment, he's not aggressive, just attention-seeking, forgiveable in a puppy.

If I only measure the snow on the ground, it's about a foot. But there's another two inches stuck to the north side of the house. It's a pretty fierce wind when heavy wet snow comes in horizontally like that. The forecast calls for another 48 hours of snow, on and off. I've carved out a path for Sam the Australian cattle dog, but maintaining it is a full-time job.

Not a dog for a small house. Certainly not five of them! It sounds as if you’ve the room to handle them, and space enough outside for them to enjoy themselves.

Though I’ve seen people keep surprisingly large dogs in tiny Hong Kong apartments - the Rottweiler one of M’lady’s brothers used to have covered most of the living room floor when he stretched out. Our daughter used him as a seat when we visited - he seemed to appreciate the attention.

We all stayed in bed this morning. We had fresh cinnamon rolls for lunch and i made fresh coffee.

It's 65 and overcast. Misting rain here and there. A good day to sleep in.

Every day is a good, no great, day to sleep in...

Be safe and well everyone!

I think you're getting the southern end of the storm system that's dropped 18" of snow on my roof so far.

I brought Bailey's to add to the coffee. Later we'll sing Christmas carols. Little else to do, snowed in as we are. But at least we have heat, electricity, and water, so our blizzard is a sleigh ride compared to what Texas went through recently.

That's what we are getting. A half in or so of rain so far and the temps are falling. Below 60 now and going down to 50.

The ladies are watching reruns of Dalton Abbey and I'm doing research for a story. I think they are doing better than I am. All my research so far has contradicted what I wanted to do in a story. So, I need to back up two pages and change directions. What I cut out will go in the fragments file. You never know when you might need a fragment or two.

Speaking of Dalton Abbey, I wonder what Ogg or HP could do with a Lit version of that show?

Is Dalton Abbey where the Dalton gang holed up when they visited France???

I'm sure some of the UK writers could do a version of Downton Abbey...

"Downtown on Abby"? :D
