Do you think people's trust in the mainstream media in the USA will ever return and how?
Do you think people's trust in the mainstream media in the USA will ever return and how?
You don't think you and other Trumpettes have push the false narratives enough?
never.
As exemplified by the occupants of this forum, there's no capacity for self reflection among the idealogues and the MSM is controlled utterly by idealogues. note the accusation within this thread that somehow fox news and trump are to blame rather than accepting the truth which is that the left is as culpable for the bullshit in this country as the right.
Neither side will fit the narrative to the facts, they will simply distort the facts to fit the narratives. This is because the job of the MSM is not truth. it is to sell dick pills and ford f-150s to the right, and dick pills and priuses to the left. They do this by packaging people of the right identity and telling the favorite lies of their target audience. For example, a never ending parade of aryan women saying "murica" on the right and a melange of racial and sexual identities holding up their nose to say "america" on the left. interspersed in all this are of course, commercials which is what their real business is. selling ad space.
Our educational system has failed. The fact Republicans and Trumpers exist is proof of this. This is not a main-stream media issue...but an issue of disenfranchised people needing an excuse to blame others for their inadequacies and being manipulated by non-mainstream media sources. Until these people are taught to think...nothing will ever change for them.
Who won the election? Was the election free and fair?
Biden.
I'd like to think so. I certainly voted for him.
Just checking. See, because there is a rather larger proportion of people who consume right wing media (Fox, OAN, Newsmax etc) that can't answer those questions affirmatively. Because they peddle lies to their viewers - and their viewers want those lies.
While the mainstream media is not perfect, it does not work to purposefully distort reality.
That's the difference.
I think you should consider the possibility that you believe that more because you are inclined to believe their narrative than because that narrative is true. Its a multi billion dollar industry whose goal is to tell you the things you want to hear.

no, you believe "While the mainstream media is not perfect, it does not work to purposefully distort reality." while being blind to the fact that you are swallowing something you're being fed the same way Trumpers do.
The left is pretty smug about how they'd never fall for that kind of bullshit but here's the truth. we fall for it all the time.
Case in point:
Trump assassinated an Irani general and its treated as the most heinous of crimes and the MSM cries that all american troops everywhere will die and they pound their chests and rend their garments about the rule of law.
Obama kills an American Citizen and his American citizen son, in Yemen, nowhere near a battlefield... crickets. (true by the way. Anwar al-Awlaki).
The difference, is of course, the party of the man who did it. Reagan invades Grenada, fascist warmonger. Clinton bombs the serbs to distract america from his impeachment? hero.
Kavanaugh is a douchebag, we get outrage. (I believe her)
Cuomo is a douchebag, we have to hear about it on Fox.
There's a simple reason for this. telling you bad shit about your own side doesn't sell ads. it just doesn't. people aren't going to stay on MSNBC to hear their heroes get shit on any more than if Fox started an anti Rush Limbaugh campaign. its money. its pure money and it happens everywhere.
The problem is that you believe one side lies and the other doesn't.
Both sides lie. both sides misrepresent the truth. People are just naturally more inclined to forgive the lies from the people that are telling them comfortable lies.
Also, yay 1 article about Al-Awlaki. that's hardly the same kind of coverage when the situation was way way worse. Not only did we kill an american, the administration released a white paper that said it could commit the extrajudicial killing of any american it wanted if their name was on the right list.
We are all being lied to all the time, through sins of omission, context, or even just the emphasis on a story. how much time is devoted to something tells us (often wrongly) how important we should feel it is. It happens in all contexts. Black kid goes missing you get something on page 10 of the paper. pretty white girl goes missing you get a 15 minute segment on the local news. By implication, we are given the narrative that the one is more important than the other. Our perception of reality is continually distorted by the media on both sides.
It's less an attempt at fairness than a deep and abiding cynicism.
If your cynicism causes you to assign meaning in direct opposition to a person's words perhaps you should re-evaluate if your cynicism is serving you well.
Yep, this isn't cynicism; it's self-imposed, self-righteous stupidity.
So hilarious that Fox News, a network with high viewership, is never considered mainstream media.
