Neither side will fit the narrative to the facts, they will simply distort the facts to fit the narratives. This is because the job of the MSM is not truth. it is to sell dick pills and ford f-150s to the right, and dick pills and priuses to the left. They do this by packaging people of the right identity and telling the favorite lies of their target audience. For example, a never ending parade of aryan women saying "murica" on the right and a melange of racial and sexual identities holding up their nose to say "america" on the left. interspersed in all this are of course, commercials which is what their real business is. selling ad space.

I think you should consider the possibility that you believe that more because you are inclined to believe their narrative than because that narrative is true. Its a multi billion dollar industry whose goal is to tell you the things you want to hear.

I don't want to hear - or even believe - that the republicans swallow Trump's big lie. But that's what the polls are saying. Consistently 2/3 to 3/4 of republicans have doubts about the integrity of the election. That's not wishful thinking and the media, regardless of interpretation, can't distort poll data.

Almost 500 bills have been put forth across the country by republicans to put limits on voting because of these doubts. Again, this isn't MSM distortion - this is just raw data.

To say I am inclined to believe this particular narrative flies in the face of demonstrated reality.

Um no. This is where I have to scratch my head and wonder what media we are talking about. All of those things were reported on. (Hint: even a google search turns up a New York Times story from Oct 1 2011 re Awlaki.)

I'm not saying and would never say the media is perfect, but honestly I'm getting this "both sides" vibe from this discussion and I think that is, frankly, bullshit. Have you thought, that perhaps in your rush to try to make things even that you are dismissing what is in front of your nose? ie that the right wing media purposefully engages in lies at a much greater degree than the mainstream media.

By implication, we are given the narrative that the one is more important than the other. Our perception of reality is continually distorted by the media on both sides.

I believe one side lies much more often than the other. Which is not only factually correct, but is what I have said now twice. Make it three times.
