Now that the Valentine's Day contest winners have been announced, I am starting this thread:

April Fool's (April 01)
themes: Stories (humorous or otherwise) of surprise meetings, humor, tricks, trick endings, and other themes of deception, chance, and/or misunderstandings (happy or otherwise)
starts: March 02
closes: March 23
winners announced: March 30

As usual, this thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the 2021 April Fool's Contest. Get your characters tricked and confused.

Many of us find this contest the most difficult of the year but have a go.

There is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests, apart from the possibility of winning, and that is that your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would normally do.

Some of that attention might be unwelcome, some abusive, but some could be appreciative and helpful.

Wait for Laurel's notice of the start of the contest as a sticky at the top of the Authors' Hangout before submitting and follow the instructions in that thread.

Nope, not my cuppa. I liked the old Earth Day contest much better.

I’m in. I’m pretty lucky that my base story can be tweaked to suit. I just need to finish it. Still...

I've been working on this one for a while already. Ought to be done in time for the start of the contest.

Whooopieee

In the calm after writing my Valentine comp entry, I had an idea for a story for April Fools.

I think some 'pranks' can be bitter & nasty, there are things I would say and do to close friends, knowing they will forgive and return with a prank or joke of their own, back in the future, but never to a new friend or stranger.

I have the bones of a story written, so now time to edit the crap out of it..

Good luck everyone.
Stay safe.
Nelly

I doubt I'll enter, but should my next Lit story be near completion in time, I could tweak it to be more 'surprise' to go with the humor.
I do like reading the AF stories though.

I also have a First Time novella that would work for Geek Day in May, but it still needs a lot of work, partly to make it less obviously and identifyingly autobiographical.

I have two short ones, already written and edited, ready for Lauren's starting post.

Like a lot of others, I'll consider making adjustments to some things I am currently working on to see if one might be a fit. Good luck to everyone who gives this contest a shot. I look forward to reading as many as I can.

If a person is plenty happy to have sex, but is "April fooled" into having it with someone else (too dark, blindfold, or however it happens). Would that have to go in non-con. It seems a bit tame for that category, but I don't know if people have strong opinions about consent issues in other categories.

Just my .02, but yes, I would put it in non-con.

I'm feeling it. (And by 'feeling it' I mean 'Felt it last month, started lagging, did nothing last week, and I'm now behind.')

But I do think the topic is pretty solid for Fantasy and/or genre writing. Personally, I am going for thievery and I guess trickery is already implied. Add some magic flairs and done (or done-ish; see above).

I'm feeling it too. Started working on the story before last year's contest but as usual did not get it done. But I'm pretty far along with it and I think I can get it done well before the deadline. It's voyeurism/exhibitionism with a twist/surprise at the end.

I placed in the last two, but am debating entering this one. I limit myself to entering one a year and I think I may hold off for Nude Day.

Yes, sadly.

I have one started, but it's just not going to clear the fence. Meh. Much can happen, given time, but why April Fools?

Earth Day was the least popular contest and people were asking for a change so Laurel asked for suggestions. I mentioned April Fools and somehow that ended up being the choice.

Now April Fools is the least popular contest...maybe its the time of year as there's no real holiday in the time frame and I think with Summer and Winter as themes we don't need another wide open category like "Spring."

April Fools seems like a more erotic theme to me than Earth Day. It's a hard time of year for a good theme. I've got an idea I'm jazzed about but it's the usual challenge to get the idea turned into a story by the deadline. I'm not good with story deadlines.

Same here, any type of deadline messes with me. I'm part of a horror discussion group and was supposed to watch two movies by...a week ago and still haven't watched them.

That sounds cool. Watching horror movies and talking about them. Can you say what they are?

We're doing The Others (Nicole Kidman) and Nightmare on Elm Street 3. The latter is because one of the members of the group is new to horror so we picked a cheesy 80's one for him. The Other's is a great ghost story with a twist sixth sense style ending.

We're trying to take the group to you tube "The Five Points of Horror" but the logistics of finding a place to shoot, matching everyone's schedule, who can edit etc...is not easy to line up.

Not like I haven't seen both at some point, but now we have to find things to specifically discuss and I haven't seen Nightmare three since...the 80's or early nineties whenever it came out

Mother's Day? It's usually March in the Uk and May in the rest of the world...
