No...100% incorrect. The vote wasn't about whether or not anyone was a criminal. It was about the Constitutionality of Impeachment of a elected official no longer in office.

I absolutely don't like the idea that a President or elected official can commit a crime just before the end of their term and not face any impeachment.consequences and that is exactly how the Constitution frames it.

This is where I agree with Mitch....you cannot just override the Constitution with a Senatorial Vote, Congressional Vote or Presidential Executive Order.

The mechanism is Constitutional Amendment.

To me it seems there is a big problem with the Constitution that needs addressing.

My question goes back to why, did the Dems Perdue this coarse of action knowing this...they had to know it? What is the end goal for them?
