For me, it was when I was in high school. A group of my friends went out on a weeknight driving around, drinking. Fortunately, being a good student who had a test to study for the next day I stayed home that night. My friends apparently got pretty wasted and got some spray paint and went around the neighborhood spray painting cars, garages, walls, and driveways.
They mostly painted swear words, Satanic symbols, names of popular music groups of the time, smily faces, pro-drug messages, etc. However one of the four of them was into Nazi shit and also painted some Swastikas, SS symbols, along with the majority of non-racial stuff.
Keep in mind this was in the late 80s. The neighborhood had frequently been plagued with non-white gang vandalism and the media didn't care. Nothing to see here folks.
The next day the lead story on all the local news stations, and newspapers as far away as Los Angeles had screaming front page headlines "quiet neighborhood rocked by racist hate crime" or something similar. It was mind blowing. Seriously? No concern about the Satanism, the profanity, or the pro-drug messages. Nothing about all the recent non-white gang graffiti. Just insane hysteria about maybe 10 percent of the vandalism that was racial.
Right then and there my whole life changed. I realized how biased not just the media was but the entire society. I realized everything is a conspiracy and used to demonize certain groups and make other groups appear to he victims.
So if you wonder why I have the beliefs I do, there it is.
