So last week President Biden signed an exec. order that allows trans males to participate in female athletic competitions. I was a high level track athlete and got a scholarship to college through being a state champion and winning numerous national events. Now high school girls are being beaten by these trans males in states where this is allowed. I also help coach and train young females who are now worried that they will not have the same opportunities as I did. And I share their concern. While they are elite like I was, there is no way they can beat a biological male who has similar training. So nearly 50 years of female athletic competition and advances will be affected to serve the needs of those few trans athletes. So what if others see this as an opportunity not just in track but perhaps basketball? That 6'6" male that would perhaps be going to a D II school could suddenly declare he now sees himself as female an now can play on his high school girls team. He would dominate the league and then would a D1 NCAA school recruit them for their women's team? Thus taking away a scholarship to an otherwise deserving female?
How far are we willing to go to pass laws that serve a few? And I am not against trans people in any way as I am bisexual. It is just a very slippery slope we are on that will have severe consequences especially for minority women who will now face competition they were not born to overcome from an athletic standpoint.
