Governing by Executive Order is Un-American

This is a dangerous trend and it is wrong no matter who does it. It absolutely does not contribute to a stated objective of "unity" in any way. It is symptomatic of a broken system. I understand the frustration in the Executive Branch. The Legislative Branch is dysfunctional and accomplishes nothing. Congress is comprised of professional politicians whose sole purpose is to galvanize "power" as opposed to representing the interests of their constituents. However, the truth is that this is the government the people voted for and deserve.

racist? No. I condemn BLM and the Proud Boys etc for all violence in their name. While I recognise that black people are unfairly targeted by law enforcement, I also know that in the UK at least, certain parts of the BAME community commit more crimes than their proportion fo the population ought to suggest. BLM is no longer just about unfairly treated black people. It has gone too far in its declared objectives so I cannot support the movement.

Obviously this means that most black neighborhoods have a respectable police presence. This leads to a disconnect between perception and reality. That particular fact is also overlooked by the press. My opinion is that NO ONE, no matter what their race, should die at the hands of the police if there is any other way of effecting the arrest. That means a lot of things have to change re. police training, procedures, etc.

It basically boils down to economic situation and quality of education. There's saying, "show me a man and I will show the crime." It's virtually impossible to follow all laws all the time, especially if you don't know or understand them, but how you get around it and get away with it matter a lot. As it turns out in practice, following the law isn't actually free, it incurs collateral costs; so poor folks under certain threshold may feel like they can't afford to be law abiding, or don't even have other viable survival options. And no, poor people aren't guilty of being poor in any way, absolutely most of them are victims of a system that makes escape from their situation difficult.

I don't say you shouldn't arrest and prosecute murderers, of course you do, but if that's all you do you're fighting a windmill, because preventing the murder starts in education system. Where I recently read a paper claiming average grades of black kids go up significantly if at least one of their teachers is black. The implications of that is quite damming as it does illustrate in measurable ways systematic racism does indeed exist.

First of all it's NOT systemic. At least not in the context that the white population is purposely creating that situation. Education is certainly a large part of it, but an even larger part is the culture within the black community itself. (At this time I should point out that approx. 98% of the victims of those crimes are also black.) Fatherless children also play a central role in this travesty.

The public education system in the US is horrible. A system that's gotten even worse with the intervention of the Federal Government as well as the Teachers Unions. The focus has changed from educating the children to obtaining as much money as is possible. This has lead to the consolidation of school districts so as to qualify for more funds leading to a top heavy, overpaid, administrators.

Re. black teachers. I don't question the study at this time but I will point out that minority teachers are NOT underrepresented. What is going on here is that as the teachers gain tenure they transfer out of the inner city schools to the suburbs as fast as they can. Truly qualified teachers even faster. This leaves the inner city schools with inexperienced and/or poorly qualified teachers. It's a huge problem with no solution in sight.

Yep, it's coward like behavior. Low character stuff. I agree on the identification....we know who and why.

Racist make a case for black inferiority or worse, a socialist/Communist plot to take what "whites" (which just means they see someone taking their person wealth) have and redistribute it to black people.

I'll give you some concrete examples of this systemic thinking on a local level. I live in an all white neighborhood. It's expensive to live where I live...that keeps out diversity(racist don't understand how that is a systemic issue)....because, if anyone can just come up with the money then anyone can live here...simple Capitalism and freedom based on freedom if choice on what one can afford.

So, my neighbors all seem very nice, well to do, mostly white folks of various backgrounds. Any time a car is broken into...mostly when stuff is taken from unlocked vehicles because nobody locks their cars or houses(an example itself if white privilege) around here, it is always " the blacks" who did it.

So, I say to them....there are no blacks around here for miles. That is when I get the looks from them like I have horns on my head. They honesty believe it's black people coming to our neighborhood. Which almost never happens. All the folks caught for stealing from vehicles has turned out to be a neighbor's.kid.and friends.... every time!

When a black person does happen to wander into this neighborhood (except for Amazon drivers, the postman) the police are called and they are "stopped" and "questioned". It is glaring because of the infrequency of people of color being here and yet it is like the neighbors are all watching and waiting for that singular black person every year or so.

I have meet very few white folks over my entire life that don't have a bit of racism in them(this includes me...which I've worked on and continue to work on) and also the systemic stuff....they give public lip service to diversity and racism and then they go back to their cloistered, somewhat privileged lives and are super quick to turn on any person of color

We also suffer from periodic house break-ins...all of the guys who have been caught over the years have been white guys. I have yet to see the police called on any white person who "looks out of place" or " might be up to no good".

This is the foundations of systemic racism and it is pervasive through out the US.

Keep doing what your doing Ogg...rascist want folks to be like them and want to silence others, especially other whites, from speaking out on this because they know we have the ability to make change in govt policy and the law. Keep speaking out!
