...way to keep your campaign promises, guys. What does Joe Manchin have on Pelosi, Schumer, and Biden, anyway? He’s one Senator! Just get one Republican to defect on the stimulus bill and make Kamala earn her pay on a reconciliation measure that isn’t subject to filibuster.

Or is this delay because we’re sending troops back to the Middle East instead of just ending the wars there as we should. The wars in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan need to end already!

No tax refunds until March either. Thank last year’s Senate for that.

He doesn't...they just don't actually give a shit about you or anyone but themselves.

You got Trump out, problem is you put back in the most concentrated form of what brought us Trump in the first place you could find....establishment crony Democrats.

Ending wars is Trumpian Fascism!!! Just ask a Democrat...ETERNAL WAR IS GOOD NOW Because orange man bad!!

We're sending troops back? I thought they were busy occupying DC... ;)

I have to wonder if stimulus is needed and if we can afford it, after all,
now that the Democrats have their President, they and the press
will be more inclined to be subdued over the ravages of Covid.
If Covid is no longer a raging issue, how do they justify
more spending without embarrassing their President?

One of the knocks on Trump was incompetence
and you could easily and indirectly hamstring
Joe as incompetent by playing up the virus
for spending (most of it aimed at votes).

Ah, the austerity cops are back at it again. Cue the whole Austrian and Chicago/Monetarist School BS about deficits and what we can afford. It's like people have been saying. Now that Democrats are back in office, Republicans have lost their amnesia and remember that they hate deficit spending (supposedly, though, of course, that somehow doesn't translate into tax hikes on the rich or cuts in excessive war budgets).

Any good Keynesian will tell you that the risks of overheating the economy with inflation are still greatly exaggerated, while the risks of underdoing the stimulus as we did in 2009 are very real. Aggregate public consumer demand is still far from back to ideal or even normal levels, caused by extreme poverty and a backlog of basic necessity spending that must precede healthy consumption of extras. Small business is also decimated and the longer this goes unaddressed, the greater the risk of total economic collapse.

Whereas, since our debt is mostly owed to ourselves, we literally can't go broke or bankrupt from deficit spending. That's something that austerity alarmists will never explain to you. I should know. I used to be a libertarian with strong pro-austerity views. Nothing like the hard knocks of life to teach a libertarian the error of his ways.

It seems the top priority for Speaker Pelosi is to delay the Biden agenda and squander a significant slice of his First Hundred Days by having the Senate engage in a trial to remove a former president who is now a private citizen, aka “a Florida man.” The wisdom of Democrat leadership cannot be underestimated.

Without the unifying hatred of Trump and everyone to the right of Mao, they fall apart.

As I predicted, once a Democrat resides in the White House, AJ pivots to "but...but...teh DEFICIT!" and clutches his pearls histrionically.Note to BoBo: "Histrionically" means "in an emotional or theatrical but not sincere way". YW

You can blow all the smoke you want but the accountability isn't going to go away.

You clowns blew it.

Cool. And grateful to Pelosi for slowing Biden’s agenda. Bet she won’t be happy if the former POTUS is acquitted.

Once again, you have it completely backwards. Trump was the one saying that Covid19 wasn’t an issue, and Biden is telling us that the worst of the pandemic is yet to come.

I guess you prefer lies.

Largely it's not.

The most destructive thing about the whole covid event?

Democrats hysterical reaction to it.

Once again, comprehension is your Achille's Heel.

THE PRESS told us it was the worst pandemic ever and Trump was an idiot and now
THE PRESS will tell us that the pandemic has been mitigated and the reason for that is Joe.

Bingo. Just like 2009. Republicans spend years trashing the federal government and ballooning the federal deficit and turn on a dime once a Democrat is in office and holler about teh need to fix everything RIGHT NOW.

It's intellectual dishonesty on a grand scale.

Trump is on record saying that Covid19 is no big deal, and that record is THE PRESS.

The rest are opinions like CornusKousa’s, and you know what those are worth.

You can debate how much money the feds can print, you can debate who owns the debt, when you say we, WHO'S WE? if WE own a good portion of the debt who do you think we is? Bond holders that's who!

"The public holds over $18 trillion, or almost 78%, of the national debt. 1 Foreign governments hold about a third of the public debt, while the rest is owned by U.S. banks and investors, the Federal Reserve, state and local governments, mutual funds, and pensions funds, insurance companies, and savings bonds."

Interest on the Debt by Year

" Updated September 21, 2020
The interest on the national debt is how much the federal government must pay on outstanding public debt each year. The interest on the debt is $378 billion. That's from the federal budget for fiscal year (FY) 2021 that runs from October 1, 2020, through September 30, 2021.1"

"The public debt is $18 trillion for FY 2021.2 That's debt owed to individuals, businesses, and foreign central banks. Over 90% comes from Treasury bills, notes, and bonds. The remaining debt instruments are Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS), Savings Bonds, and other securities.3"

The majority of government debt is public—debt the American people own.

The interest on that debt consumes 10% of the FY 2020 U.S. federal budget.

That's not true. Actually, both the PRESS (sic) and Biden are telling us the truth, that the post holiday phase of the pandemic is getting worse, and that there are new mutations of the virus that are posing new problems.

Sorry to interrupt another one of your tear-stained pity-parties about the woes of victimhood within Cult-45. You must be a pain in the ass to live with. Is there a Mrs. AJ who has to put up with this all the time?

You're such a fucking hypocrite! Biden ran his campaign on covid, how he would do things different, be more aggressive right from day one. The 2nd coming of Obama was going to eradicate covid, he was going to do the right things and protect the people, increase vaccines availability. He is in the same boat as Trump, not much he can do DIFFERENTLY than Trump's. 100 days of mandatory mask wearing on federal property which he himself violated. Dems live by **GOOD FOR THEE BUT NOT MEEEEE!!!** LMFAO!

He is doing things differently-- he's telling the truth about the seriousness of the pandemic, and he has presented a national plan for production and distribution of the supplies and policies that will be required to address the worsening situation. That's very different from the last administration.

Boy, Cult-45 members sure do like the CAP LOCK feature on their keyboards. You seem a bit hysterical. Try taking a walk outdoors. :rose:
