Maintaining... motivation?

So I write stories on situations that arouse me, and the story's premise is usually a portion of the motivation for me. The problems is, sometimes while writing I get too horny and need to climax, or the material I use for research or reference does the same. Of course, with post-nut clarity, I'm off to do other things, or just don't feel the same "rawness" of the current writing, so my writing slows down.

Do any of you have any tips or tricks to maintain this constant motivation (other than edging)? Since I'm doing this for fun there is of course no financial motivation, and I have tons of ideas that I really need to finish, but the work definitely happens in spurts (pardon the pun).

I only write erotica when I'm motivated to do so. There's usually a whole lot of reviewing that needs to be done too, so I can still be connected with erotica--just not composing it. My motivation is to try to write 1,400 words a day, with a minimum of 1,000 words (but I don't slit my wrists if it doesn't get done). That can be on material that isn't erotica, but once I settle down to writing, my mind tends to fly off to the erotica I'm in progress with, so I don't need further motivation. I guess the urge to do a daily write no matter the material gives me the motivation I need to get on with the erotica.

1. I look for ideas that are really exciting to me.

2. The readers are a huge motivating factor. I wouldn't write without readers.

Generally I treat writing like a job. Certain things need to get done within a certain amount of time. That sort of mentally. It can be exhausting, but that's where the fulfillment comes from.

Writing's partly intoxicating fun, but mostly hard, and sometimes frustrating, work. You will have to decide whether you want to commit to the entire process - conceiving a great idea, writing the entire story, editing, getting feedback, more editing - or if just writing sex scenes that arouse you is enough, and you don't want to go to the trouble of producing something publishable.

I don't know of any magic tricks that make the hard work easier, other than the payoff of creating something worth reading. I happen to love that, but your mileage and motivations may vary.

Good luck to you! :)

A bit like Keith, I treat writing as a job. (For most of my life it has been my job.)

My motivation to keep writing has very little to do with sex and everything to do with telling an engaging tale involving engaging characters, and doing it to the best of my ability. Whether I’m writing erotica or something else, makes little difference. I write about food and music and a dozen other subjects. And each requires that I ‘tell a tale’ in which the reader can invest. It’s very simple really: start writing; keep writing; stop when you reach the end. :)

For me, writing is a break and rest from a crazy day. Some people sit and watch TV/Netflix/Hulu/YouTube etc, I try and write.

Unless there is a new episode of The Mandalorian of course. ;)

The OP's case sounds in need of drastic measures. Production must not be compromised! I prescribe a chastity device with the key-holder being an overseas friend. :D Erotic masterpieces guaranteed or your money back.

I'm about with Sam. Stories may boil within me awhile but I write when I damn well feel like it, with no set words-per-day goal. Distractions including medical conditions may interfere, and I can't write much when my partner lounges beside me on their own laptop, but when I really WANT to write, I do. Desire is the key. If ya don't wanna, ya ain't gonna.

I usually don't get turned on by my own stories - at least not when I'm writing them. Usually, I have this priority: why are the characters in the story attracted to each other and how do they make it happen? Of course, there are the inevitable break-ups, especially since most of my characters are much younger than I am now. That is the world we live in at the moment.
