And Jane Coaston is absolutely right about that in every point she made....AH and the N'z weren't Marxist.

Thing is while all Marxist are socialist, not all socialist are Marxist

And that is the primary fault in Coastons argument.

Socialism, like many political ideologies has a wide array of subcategories of how to go about implementing/attaining their ideological objectives. From co-op/employee owned companies (liberal socialism) all the way to hardcore authoritarian varieties like Marxism. The common thread they all share is collective ownership/administration/control of the means of production.

Enter the Nazis.....who very much advocated collective control over the means of production, they in fact felt entitled to ALL the means of production. That collective just happened to be defined by race, not class, making them ethno-socialist.

So the Nazis were "socialist" technically in the most basic sense of the term yes, but not putting the proper qualifiers on it to delineate it from what most people consider socialism (Marxism) is somewhat misleading/dishonest.

Too you point above....FDR was also called a Socialist for his implementation of war powers and taking control of "the means of production" to fight the Japanese, Hitler and Mousolinni....this is exactly what Hitler did...he had no asperations of state owner ship and control in the long term. Neither did FDR....all industry and goods went right back to their owners as it would have if Hitler had won.
