Helllloooooo Saturday morning.

Morning sex.

Your body is ready and rested.
He’ll stay harder longer.
You’ll feel lovey-dovey for the rest of the day.
You’ll get to drink in the views, hello sunshine.
Rocking a better morning mood.
It counts as a morning workout (or pre-workout)
Best way to start the day off, right?

Who’s a fan?
Would you rather pass and save it for later?
Or maybe one is begging for it and the other is negotiating to get out of it?

I'm a fan, but it has so rarely happened that I'm almost immune to the idea due to a partner that is the exact opposite, despite the fact that I wake up mentally and physically ready to go almost every damned morning. 🙄

Such is life

I love being in bed.
Especially in the morning.
That’s Happy Snuggle Time.
It turns to Fondle Smooching Time.
From there?
Options:
Fuck Our Brains Out Time
Or,
Edge and Flirt All Day Until Tonight Time...

Good Sunday Morning!
So *someone* got a new phone this week with a fancy dancy camera. And it’s got all these filters on it that make my wrinkles disappear and give me the skin of a newborn babe.
So THAT’S how people are doing it. (Well, that and Snapchat)

I confess to playing with Snapchat filters and having fun. I use the filter that makes me look like a boy and all of a sudden I see my brothers faces staring back at me and it’s a giggle fest. Making my hair blue? Sure. Fun times. Send it to mom to freak her out.

But gentlemen, do we really enjoy the heavily filtered stuff? Is it pretty and fantastical in a fairy tale kind of way?

Ladies, why do we put puppy ears on and sparkles around our heads? Is it pretty and fantastical in a fairy tale sort of way?

I played around with some of the new filters on my phone the other night and was kinda freaked out- it didn’t look like me! And I’ve been out of the dating scene for a minute or two but if I sent a pic out into the hook-up-verse or dating-sphere like that then people would surely be let down upon meeting me.

TLDR: Filters on pics. Thoughts?

Bonus points for attaching a mega filtered photo that renders you completely unrecognizable. :)

Ah! Filters. It's all about the context but overall in my personal opinion, less is better.

But I've seen some beautiful pictures that came across as very artistic with the creative use of fliters.

"um.. Touch your toes really quick honey, I'm going to drive it in deep... "Spit"... Oh yeah!" *shrugs*

That might just work.

TLDR: Filters on pics. Thoughts?

First, no one would be disappointed upon meeting you.

On to the question... I don't take prefer extensive filters on photos. You want to toss a Nashville or Juno on something to change it a bit, the lighting and such, I can get behind that. But you can certainly over filter and make it look unnatural. I'm not in love with that. It almost looks washed out sometimes. If I were on a dating site and the photos there were done in a way that made me not recognize you for an in person meeting, I'd be put off a little bit. Mostly because I want to see the person not because I think the person was trying to be deceitful.

The world can be cruel as shit and magazines/publications/ads have been air brushing, filtering, whatever else one can do to make people look very unnaturally perfect for decades, so it's not like society hasn't trained us all for very unnatural expectations.

I posted these very thoughts on another thread this morning.

Filters? Why?

I think this phenomenon is indicative of a bigger issue...why do we think we aren't good enough? I can see using a filter to mask your true identity...but you can't convince me that is why they are used. Every human is beautiful....just as they are. Unique.

So well said! 💜

I'm not a filter person. My kiddo loves playing with them when talking with the grandparents, though. That's the only time I adorn a filtered personality.

I guess I haven't thought about the ramifications of what these filters are going to do to the self esteem of everyone until today. Much like the way porn has bastardized how many young men expect sex to be like, will filters alter the way we expect people to look? I think so. Photoshop was bad enough.

It's interesting timing as I'm struggling with body image issues for the first time ever in my life. I'm still adjusting to what my body looks like and is currently capable of in this new season of postpartum. I've had the luxury of always being really content in my skin and am finding this insecurity difficult to navigate. I still gave a healthy dose of self esteem and perspective and even with that I'm finding the defeating self talk exhausting. I can't imagine how our younger friends "cope" with this as it takes a huge effort to navigate and I'm not sure I would have had the ability to not get defeated by these changes ten years ago.

I happen to still like my sun spots and wrinkles. I see them as physical reminders of the adventures I've been on. Filtering those off my face would be removing stories that I carry with me and that makes me just a little bit sad to even think about.

I’m not gonna say much about filters except-
Do I use them, no.
What do I think of highly filtered photography, lots.
To each their own tho.

I think what it comes down to is being comfortable and confident in your own skin. Owning you’ve lived life, aged, had children, successes and fails and are not immune to time and gravity.

Go look at some of the work of Diane Arbus, Nan Goldin, Irving Penn, Man Ray and see what and how beauty is captured and defined. It’s a lot deeper than real than any of these Tumblr filtered models, TikTok catfish crap, Insta BS and what ever the coolest filter one is buying into and fooling no one with.

Practice makes better.

Oh! And men chiming in to give their two-cents about filtered pics, possibly upsetting and then reducing said sexy pic flow of tatas - shit please.

Absolutely.
The filter that makes you look like ground beef is my ultimate fav.
Bring it!
😂

<TLDR: Filters on pics. Thoughts?

Bearing in mind that I ask this as someone who has never shared a pic of my face with anyone on Lit -

What the heck is a Snapchat?

And Trekka- challenge accepted!

Snapchat?

Oh, man. I am not quite sure what I was expecting. Aussie, you must be part elf! 😂

* * *

Bearing in mind - again - that I have zero experience in the matter, eh, I don't see an issue with using filters. Like anything there are positive and negative applications. As long as it's not done with intent to deceive, why not have fun, if that's your particular cup of tea.

Personally, I prefer a nice tisane. :p

I don't do filters. Not out of any sense of not being true to myself or deep reason. I'm just too lazy. I don't want to have to go through a whole series of filter apps before chatting with someone. It's enough that I feel the need to brush my hair and maybe swipe a little concealer to cover the bags under my eyes.

But that also might be because I'm not looking for anything more than just friendly banter. Maybe if I was on the dating scene or trying to hook up with someone I would feel differently. But then I remember how absolutely lazy I am and I doubt my thoughts on the matter would change much.

Not as much a fan

Saturday question - I rock morning wood every day. Love starting the day off addressing that properly!!

Sunday question - not a fan of filters. Fun with the kids, sure! To represent what I look like to others, nope!
