By far my first preference is to post in the main Literotica Personals section, and I'm sure yours is too but I think for many of us, the local dating pool is simply too small.

The other day, I was debating checking out Tinder, so I searched for it on the iOS App Store and I was surprised there were several apps that all specifically claim to facilitate hookups, given Apple's preference for more... ahem... wholesome fare.

Have people tried these apps and posted reviews?

Specifically, I'm looking for...

1. do they make you feel like your info is private and secure (as in they don't sell marketing data or upload your photos to revenge porn websites)?
2. can you easily subscribe, pay and cancel without jumping through hoops?
3. is the process just onerous that people actually put some thought and effort into their profiles? In other words, few lookie-loos, trolls and scammers?
4. are the search filters decent?
5. do they try to trick you into staying on the site by sending fake responses from bots?
6. do they make sending/receiving messages easy?

What I'm not looking for...

1. how many potential matches are in YOUR neighborhood or the quality of those matches

You don't have to answer every question. I'm mainly trying to avoid apps and sites where it's clearly "buy a URL and make money from the desperate." Android and website reviews are also welcome.

I played with Tinder and a couple of other apps for a few months, and there was just SO much spam and and so many scammers on them that it became an exercise in futility to try to find an actual person to play with.

... and there was just SO much spam and and so many scammers...

Yeah, I don’t think free services are worth the money. If it costs you zero dollars and a mere 2 minutes to post an ad, of course scammers will do just that.

Literotica is ad-supported which helps but I don’t know if it’s a conscious decision whether to aggressively expand the user base or if they’ve decided to try to keep it off the radar.

For the record, I’m willing to pay. My fear really is more having to jump through all sorts of hoops to cancel if the service ultimately works out or even better, I meet that special someone.
