Did he really think that the Supreme Court....

I don't think the AG of Texas (who's not that bright to begin with) and most of those AGs who signed on thought it had a legit chance. Paxton was doing it specifically to curry favor with Trump for a pardon for the bribery and other charges he's going to be facing soon.

Trump, on the other hand, has shown consistently that he just has absolutely no clue how the government works (at any level). So it's quite likely he legitimately thought there was a chance the SCOTUS would provide him some relief.

Yes he did. He came right out and said so. He's quoted as making the argument during the Nun's confirmation hearings that he needed her there because he expected the election to go to them.

He mistakenly believed that he could poison all three branches of government. Turns out only the Executive and Legislative branches had been fouled by his toxic behavior.

I chuckle a little each time I read your reference to the latest appointment, but remember, there is a difference between a Nun and a Handmaid.

The Heritage Foundation is way too right wing to groom nuns for public office. Too much of chance that a nun will actually follow the model set by Christ.

I think the pardon idea is probably where this started with Paxton. I would not discount the notion that this is an intentional plan by these Repubs to further solidify this conspiratorial notion(s) Trump has been espousing for more than a decade. It has traction with a segment of Trump's base and they all see the power he is welding over his supporters...anything Trump and these Repubs can identify as a scan, stolen, fraudulent or swampy, so long as it has a kernal of truth to it can be spun by them. Even when there is no truth to it they are successful at spinning it for there base.

I have a feeling a larger plan is going to be revealed in the next 3 weeks just prior to the inauguration. Hold on to your seats!

His entire career has been based on the first five minutes of The Godfather: the notion that if you do someone what you perceive as a favor, you own them forever.

As we might have guessed from greatest hits like "Article II of the Constitution says I can do whatever I want," his knowledge of government is mind-boggingly shallow.

I keep reminding people he's been stacking the Pentagon with lackeys.

And he did his best to maneuver it there.

Trump’s Reichstag moment?

GOP chair Kelli Ward is appealing to the SCOTUS to overturn the election in Arizona.

Eleven electoral votes won’t change a thing.

She's a screw-ball. Arizona has been doing mail-in voting for many years, and did not substantially change anything this year except had less polling places.

Big surprise: That lawsuit will go nowhere, and may even be considered frivolous, which would require that the GOP must pay for the State's defense costs.

Yes he did. You have to understand that this is how the donald has operated his entire life. He buys people, not only with money but favors and a promise of retribution if they fail him. So he fully expected those judges he put on the bench to be beholding to him. He doesn't understand when they don't do as he wants. Especially since he has no way to carry out revenge on those judges he put on the bench when they didn't vote his way. I almost feel sorry for him. Almost. But I can't because it would be like feeling sorry for bedbugs that have been sprayed.

Mitch didn't seat those justices to protect Trump. He seated them to protect "Citizens United" and his corporate masters.

Trump has served his purpose.

Buh-bye

True, but you can bet Trump thought they'd have his back all the same.

Mitch is certainly taking his time cutting Trump loose.

He's got nothing to lose by humouring him for another 40 days.

This.

Mitch and the rest of the republican operators have a lot to lose if they openly cheer Trump's demise.

Some of Trump's most deranged supporters are just now starting to realize they've been played and they're beginning to make angry noises aimed at the GOP establishment.

Slow learners.

Trump has been planing this grift since before he lost the election. It's not about winning in court it's about getting his cult to send him money now and in the future. With trump it is ALL about the money.

was in his pocket?

Trump is not an adult. He is a spoiled brat child who has always had his dad or his lawyers or somebody to bail his ass out whenever he screwed up. Trump has never had to deal with the consequences of his own bad decisions and it shows.

He's still expecting somebody to bail him out of this mess. He has an extraordinary sense of entitlement and he doesn't believe that he should ever have to deal with adult responsibilities or even the ordinary disappointments that normal adults deal with every day.

So, he's going to everyone he can think of and telling them to get him out of dealing with the indignity of losing an election.

One thing about him, he is very predictable.

Fascists think the government is their toy and by the power of God, they are OWED the power of absolute rule.
