Ok, a short disclaimer first. I posted the following in another community but would love to see the results from you:

I don't really know anything about classical art and paintings other than liking some of it.

But here is the deal: I do very much enjoy classical paintings that are erotic and/or pornographic. I also admit, I get turned on heavily by them but that is another story.

So I thought I'd ask the community about good examples as it isn't so easy to find them on the internet.

I am interested in all art styles but bonus points for paintings that are famous or by famous painters. And they should be somewhat high-brow or done by professionals (if they were amateur, they'd not really be considered classical, I suppose). They don't have to be erotic on purpose btw.

Here are some examples I enjoy, so you get an idea what I am looking for:

"Frau bei der Selbstbefriedigung" by Gustav Klimt
"Truth Coming Out of Her Well" by Jean-Léon Gérôme
"The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" by Hokusa
And my most favorite so far, "L'Origine du monde" by Gustave Courbet
So if any of you know some more, I'd really appreciate a hint.

Thank you so very much.

Tom

P.S.: I hope a similar thread doesn't already exist. If so, please drop me a hint as well.

I like Klimpt, but am unfamiliar with ‘Frau bei der Selbstbefriedigung’. Have you a link?

Boucher’s ‘Portrait of Marie-Louis O’Murphy’ is lovely.

‘Hylas and the Nymphs’ by JW Waterhouse is enchanting.

Twisted though they be, Aubrey Beardsley’s engravings are amazing, especially his Lysistrata series.

Almost anything by Alma-Tadema

Good suggestion, thank you. He has got a very nice style and point of view. Shows again that sometimes clothed can be sexier than naked.

On a sidenote: I had like a 20-year hiatus from literotica but I do remember your username and profile pic. Good to see that some people form back then are still around!

I really like "Hylas and the Nymphs", that is a good one. Thank you for the suggestions.

And yeah, Beardsley takes a bit of getting used to, but interesting indeed.

Perhaps not internationally so well known, but if you're ever in Sydney the original home of an Australian artist Norman Lindsay is worth a visit in the Blue Mountains. He was highly controversial in his time and really only gained the recognition he deserved later in his life.

Oh, that is a good one. Good pick!

Was he the guy on whom the movie Sirens was based?

That was my first thought and in the painting example there are four women prominently centered which would jibe with the women presented in the movie.

For those not familiar, Sirens was a ‘93-94ish release with Sam what’s his name from Jurassic Park and Elle McPherson in all her full frontal nude glory!

We saw this in the Louvre in ‘97. Bought the poster advert and framed it. It hangs prominently over our mantle! My mom & dad would come over and with furrowed brow, try to make sense of it!😂

I asked my wife to let it reside in our bedroom, but she adamantly refuses!

PS. LaisDeMarieDeFrance has a nice Classical Art thread over in the PG, but she combines all Classical Art and not just of a naughty nature…go give her a look!
