Four Roses Small Batch is a great whiskey! I have some and like it too much to mix with anything.

My drink last night was made with Legent whiskey, Carpano Antica vermouth, Italian cherries and, yes, black walnut bitters.

Manhattan's, IMHO, are the most wonderful cocktail with so many possible flavors and variations depending upon which combination of whiskey, vermouth and bitters are used. They can be soft, light and fruity or strong, dark and smokey. Mine last night was toward the strong end of the spectrum.

In a nice restaurant or bar, I often ask the bartender to make me his or her personal favorite variation.

Oh, and 2:1 ratio whiskey to vermouth is my go to
